Qualifications / Requirements:

• National Diploma Chemistry or relevant Engineering qualification
• 3 to 5 years’ experience in chemical analyses, including sample preparation, instrument operation, and data interpretation

Essential

• Good understanding of chemical compliance management and guiding regulations
• Sound technical knowledge of laboratory protocols, testing standards and ISO 17025
• Proven analytical and innovative approach to qualitative and quantitative analysis of products and line problems
• Computer skills (Windows, MS Office)
• Ability to work independently and as part of a team
• Ability to work under pressure and be self-motivated
• Sound communication skills and an ability to communicate at all levels

Key Performance Areas:

• Ensure, through laboratory testing, analysis, and investigation, that all materials used in the manufacture of our vehicles, conform to specifications and standards and also do not infringe on any National and Municipal By-laws

• Analyse all inbound solvents materials for qualitative and quantitative properties using various Laboratory instrumentation
• Ensure that all routine tests required by company standards are processed and documented accordingly
• Implement quality control measures to ensure the accuracy and reliability of chemical analysis
• Ensure that all the Laboratory instrumentation and facilities are calibrated and maintained
• Maintain laboratory management system for quality, administrative and technical operations
• Liaise with accredited laboratories to fulfil the Municipal by-law requirements
• Ensure compliance by controlling safety requirements on the operation of the laboratory
• Liaise with internal customers and suppliers to ensure that the quality, cost, and schedule standards of materials are adhered to
• Planning, implementing, and controlling new work instructions and procedures, for new test methods required
• Coordinate and maintain all technical and safety data sheets for materials used in the Paint Shop environment
