Job Title: Lecturer in Civil Engineering (JB4771)

The Lecturer is responsible for teaching and learning in a specific subject field on campus, namely Civil Engineering. A lecturer is responsible for facilitating student learning through interactive classroom teaching and promotes student engagement while supporting the student learning experience.

Lecturers are required to promote student success through initiatives that see improved student retention and throughput rates. As a subject matter expert, a lecturer needs to keep abreast of developments in their subject area and is also required to assure the quality of the delivery of the subject content, assessment, and relevancy of the learning material such that the learning outcomes are achieved.

Educational Requirements:

1. Relevant qualification in the subject area that meets the regulatory one-up level and at least a degree for higher education programmes.
2. Postgraduate qualification is advantageous and a requirement for any lecturer teaching on a degree level.
3. Proven teaching portfolio that evidences student support and success.
4. Minimum of 1 year lecturing experience required; 3 or more years’ experience preferred.
5. Possess specialist knowledge and technical skills in the subject discipline to develop teaching programmes and materials and provide learning support.
6. Active participant in own professional academic development, including awareness of requirements set out by regulatory bodies, quality councils, institutional standards, and policies.
