As an Aviation Security Screener, you will play a crucial role in ensuring the safety and security of passengers, personnel, and facilities within the aviation industry. Your primary responsibility is to conduct thorough security screenings of passengers, their belongings, and cargo to identify and prevent prohibited items from entering secure areas of the airport.
Key Responsibilities:
Passenger and Baggage Screening:
Conduct efficient and respectful screenings of passengers using X-ray machines, metal detectors, and physical pat-downs as necessary.
Operate screening equipment to thoroughly inspect carry-on and checked baggage, identifying potential threats and prohibited items.
Detect and respond to prohibited items, such as weapons, explosives, and other dangerous substances, following established protocols.
Effectively communicate with passengers, providing clear instructions and information regarding security procedures and requirements.
Cargo Screening:
Inspect cargo shipments for security threats, ensuring compliance with regulatory standards.
Use X-ray machines and other screening equipment to examine cargo for prohibited items.
Verify documentation and packaging of cargo shipments.
Report any suspicious activity or items to appropriate authorities.
Access Control:
Monitor and control access to restricted areas of the airport.
Verify identification and authorization of personnel entering secure zones.
Implement security measures to prevent unauthorized access.
Emergency Procedures:
Respond to security incidents and emergencies according to established protocols.
Evacuate passengers and staff as needed, following safety guidelines.
Assist in emergency response efforts, such as fire, medical, or security incidents.
Qualifications and Skills:
Grade A PSIRA
Level 1,2 and 3 Aviation Security Screener (Airport and Cargo)
Dangerous Goods CAT 12
X-Ray Image Recognition Training
Ability to work under pressure and in a fast-paced environment.
Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
Physical fitness to stand for extended periods and lift heavy objects.
Ability to obtain and maintain required security clearances.
Working Conditions:
Shift work, including weekends and holidays.
Exposure to loud noise levels and potentially stressful situations.
