Senior Engineer – Balance-of-Plant (Renewable Energy)

A leading IPP is looking for a Senior Balance-of-Plant Engineer with extensive bidding and construction experience.
Minimum Requirements:
- Degree in Electrical Engineering
- 8 – 15 years’ experience, with extensive experience on renewable energy plants (wind and solar)
- Experience in BOP engineering and designing with techno-commercial understanding
- Strong understanding of EPC and O&M agreements
- Experience in tendering and bidding for wind and solar projects
Your Key Responsibilities Will Include:
- Interface between the company and consulting engineers on wind and solar design issues, BOP, costing etc.
- Optimisation of design and pricing parameters
- Active involvement in tendering and bidding for wind and solar projects
- Negotiations with EPC contractors, turbine suppliers, BOP contractors, etc.
- Negotiating contract Heads of Terms and final EPC and O&M agreements
- Subcontractor agreements
- BOP budgeting provisions
- Assisting with design of interconnection works, HV lines, substations and grid access control interface
- Contract pricing, negotiation and contracting for above
- Technical input for financial close of successfully awarded projects
- Project management, interface with LTA, contractors, Eskom, Lenders, etc during construction
- Delegation of various tasks as described above and where required, management of junior engineers
