Job Description

PURPOSE OF POSITION
The Business Analyst helps guide CIB in improving its processes, products, services and systems through data analysis. The business analyst straddles the line between IT and the business to help bridge the gap and improve efficiency. The Business Analyst understands business needs and ideas and articulates these within both the business and IT, whilst simultaneously balancing against what's technologically feasible and financially and functionally reasonable.

QUALIFICATIONS AND EXPERIENCE

  • Relevant B Degree in Computer Science and/or Engineering
  • Project Management experience (PMBOK, Prince II, Agile)
  • Proven track record of both theoretical and practical aspects of Business Analysis
  • IIBA Certification
  • Experience in project management techniques and tools
  • Direct work experience in Business Analysis (10+ years)
  • Proven experience in working in teams, influencing people, strategic planning, risk management and change management.
  • Proficient in process tools eg Visio, Aris etc
  • Experience with insurer and broker systems eg System A, Brolink, CIMS etc
  • Demonstrable experience in improving systems, processes and workflows.

  • Manages the applications that integrate across business areas.
  • Responsible for the systematic and methodical investigation, analysis and documentation of all or part of a business area in terms of business functions and processes, and the information they use across applications.
  • Identifies and examines business needs and determines timely and effective solutions to business functions and processes.
  • Performs Requirements elicitation.
  • Performs detailed business analysis, outlining problems, opportunities and solutions.
  • Budgeting and forecasting.
  • Planning and monitoring.
  • Variance analysis.
  • Pricing.
  • Reporting.
  • Defining business requirements and reporting them back to stakeholders.
  • Perform risk assessments.
  • Provide process documentation and operating instructions.
  • Beta and surface testing.
  • Full application testing including leading and coordination of UAT.
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills.
  • Interpersonal and consultative skills.
  • Facilitation skills.
  • Analytical thinking and problem solving.
  • Being detail-oriented and capable of delivering a high level of accuracy.
  • Organizational skills.
  • Knowledge of business structure.
  • Stakeholder analysis.
  • Requirements engineering.
  • Costs benefit analysis.
  • Processes modelling.
  • Understanding of networks, databases and other technology.
  • Acts as a bridge between the business and the IT development teams.
  • Evaluates and documents the underlying business architecture and conducts feasibility studies, business cases, risk assessments, writes proposals, and creates functional requirements for new applications and major changes to existing applications.
  • Comprehensive documentation of Test Plans and coordination of testing effort.
  • Document implementation plan and ensure successful implementation.
  • Conduct post implementation reviews.
