Our client, an upmarket hotel and conference center in Pretoria is looking for an experienced Driver to join their team as soon as possible.

JOB DESCRIPTION:

The driver is responsible for safely and timeously transporting goods, passengers or materials from one location to another, following traffic laws and safety regulations. The driver will be required to ensure the vehicle is well-maintained, complete necessary paperwork. The driver will have a schedule for daily tasks and responsibilities supplied by the procurement manager.

MAIN DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES:

• Ensure Safe Transportation: Safely transport goods, passengers or materials to their designated destinations, adhering to all traffic laws, safety regulations, and company policies.
• Maintain Vehicle Condition: Regularly inspect, maintain, and ensure the vehicle is in good working order, ensuring timely maintenance and reporting any mechanical issues to prevent breakdowns.
• Efficient Route Management: Plan and follow the most efficient and cost-effective routes, adjusting for traffic, weather, or other unforeseen conditions, to ensure timely deliveries or arrivals.
• Accurate Documentation: Maintain and complete all required documentation, such as delivery logs, trip reports, and vehicle inspection forms, to ensure proper record-keeping and compliance.
• Monitor Fuel and Vehicle Usage: Keep track of fuel levels, mileage, and the condition of the vehicle to ensure efficient fuel usage and timely servicing of the vehicle as per company guidelines.
• Adhere to Health and Safety Standards: Follow all safety procedures, including wearing seat belts, securing cargo, and ensuring the safety of goods or materials, especially during loading or unloading.
• Compliance with Legal and Regulatory Requirements: Ensure compliance with all driving regulations, including maintaining a valid driver’s license and following traffic laws.
• Time Management: Manage schedules effectively, ensuring timely pick-ups, deliveries, or arrivals while accounting for delays or changes in plans.

EDUCATIONAL REQUIREMENTS:

• Grade 12

EXPERIENCE AND SKILLS REQUIRED:

• 2 – 3 Years’ proven experience in a driver role
• Valid Driver’s license Code B (Essential)
• Valid Driver’s license Code C (Desirable)
• A valid professional driving permit (PrDP) (Desirable)
• English proficiency (Essential)
• Computer literacy of MS Office (Essential)
• Good communication, navigation, and time management skills
• Highly organized and detail-oriented
• Proactive and solutions focused
• Ability to manage multiple tasks and prioritize effectively
• Energetic, committed, team player
• Self-motivated and hard working
• Due to the nature of the hotel industry must be available after hours and over weekends
• Prepared to go through occupational assessments
• Must have own reliable transport. (Essential)
