DIRECTOR OPERATIONS – AGRICULTURE - FM1387

Durban Area – KwaZulu Natal: Our client is looking for a Director of Operations - Agriculture.

The successful candidate will be responsible for all farming operations reporting to the Board, and for the planning and execution of new projects.

MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS

• Agricultural degree or equivalent
• Post graduate business qualification would be a strong advantage
• Minimum of 10 years in farming operations industry with at least 5 years at senior management level
• Proven sound financial background
• Proven ability to establish and maintain strong relationships with board, staff, customers and regulators
• Previous processing plant and abattoir experience advantageous
• Strong management and communication skills
• Must be fluent in written English
• Computer literate
• Valid driver’s license
• Willingness to travel

RESPONSIBILITIES

• Systems and reporting for all farming operations involving inter alia:
• Dairy farming on irrigated pastures – 1000 herd size
• Wagyu farming on irrigated pastures and dryland rotational grazing with feed supplementation – 4 000 herd size
• Feed production on pastures and with cropping
• Partner producers for the finishing of Wagyu cattle and the growing of green feed.
• Partner producers for the rearing of Wagyu calves to 90 days
• Artisan abattoir 20 head per day
• 40 t per day feed mill
