Job description

Supports the Director of Facilities in managing daily maintenance operations across campus. Leads a team to ensure timely and effective repairs, maintain a safe and well-kept facility, and adhere to all relevant safety regulations and facility standards.

Responsibilities

  1. Support the Director of Facilities in managing maintenance operations, including leading and supervising the maintenance team, delegating tasks, and ensuring timely completion.
  2. Develop and implement maintenance schedules and perform and oversee routine maintenance on building mechanical equipment and facilities.
  3. Maintain maintenance and repair logs and manage tools, equipment, and supply inventory.
  4. Troubleshoot and repair plumbing, electrical, carpentry, general maintenance issues, and building fixtures (including locks, doors, hinges, and furniture).
  5. Oversee lawn services (mowing, weed-eating, tree trimming, and hauling).
  6. Respond to emergency maintenance requests and prioritize urgent repairs.
  7. Collaborate with other departments and facility leadership on maintenance needs.
  8. Maintain a clean, organized, and safe work environment.

Skills

  1. Leadership Skills: Demonstrated ability to lead and supervise a maintenance team, including strong communication skills to motivate and manage effectively.
  2. Maintenance Skills: Hands-on experience performing building maintenance tasks, with preferred experience in facilities management, plumbing, carpentry, or construction.
  3. Technical Knowledge: Understanding of safety regulations and best practices in facility maintenance.
  4. Organizational Skills: Ability to efficiently coordinate tasks, manage time effectively, and prioritize competing demands.
  5. Problem-Solving Skills: Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities to identify and resolve maintenance issues.

Qualifications

  1. Must be at least 18 years old.
  2. Must have a valid TX driver's license.
  3. GED or high school diploma required.
  4. Minimum 2 years of maintenance leadership or management experience required.

Physical Requirements

  1. Ability to stand, walk, squat, bend, twist, kneel, and reach throughout the shift.
  2. Ability to push and pull carts or equipment (over lbs.)
  3. Must be able to operate maintenance equipment and tools as needed.
