ABOUT MAMATWAN

The South Africa Manganese operation can be found in the manganese rich Kalahari Basin, in the country’s Northern Cape, which is home to 80 per cent of the world's manganese. This position is based at our open-cut Mamatwan mine which started operating more than half a century ago.

ABOUT THE ROLE:

This role is a permanent full-time position. As an Artisan Diesel Mechanic, you will be responsible for timely installation, repair and maintenance of equipment to ensure that mining activities are executed in a safe manner as well as operate equipment and test all working parts in the functional area to ensure proper utilization.

Other key responsibilities include, but aren’t limited to:

1. Interpreting and coordinating pre-work with regards to repairs, interpretation of hydraulic diagrams, planned and predictive maintenance;
2. Accessing any area safely to perform necessary maintenance on machines or equipment;
3. Performing safety inspections of equipment and assessing risks on equipment;
4. Maintaining a clean and safe worksite;
5. Ensuring the upkeep of maintenance tools and equipment;
6. Coordinating activities associated with troubleshooting and repairing maintenance equipment.

ABOUT YOU:

You will have experience and demonstrate capability in the following:

1. Must have a minimum of 3 years’ experience as a Qualified Artisan in a mining environment;
2. Experience in performing major rebuilds and/or components rebuild will be advantageous;
3. SAP & CAT ET, SIS software knowledge will be advantageous.

Qualifications for this role are:

1. N2 Technical Certificate;
2. Valid Mechanical Trade Test.
