DIESEL CONSTRUCTION MECHANIC

Job Title: CONSTRUCTION EQUIPMENT MECHANIC / TECHNICIAN
Location: Paarl, South Africa
Salary: R35,000 - R50,000 PM CTC

Key Responsibilities:

1. Perform inspections, diagnostics, and repairs on construction and earthmoving equipment, including excavators, loaders, and trucks.
2. Conduct preventative maintenance and scheduled servicing as per manufacturer requirements.
3. Diagnose and resolve mechanical, electrical, and hydraulic issues.
4. Perform welding, gas cutting, and other power tool tasks.
5. Maintain accurate records of all servicing, repairs, and consumables.
6. Ensure compliance with safety, health, and environmental regulations.
7. Act promptly on equipment breakdowns to minimize downtime.
8. Verify equipment performance through test drives and adjustments.
9. Maintain high standards of cleanliness, safety, and roadworthiness for all equipment.

Qualifications & Experience:

1. Education: Red Seal/Trade Tested Diesel Mechanic qualification.
2. Experience: Minimum of 5 years in civil construction equipment, heavy machinery, or related industries.
3. Auto electrical skills (advantageous).
4. Strong fault-finding, diagnostic, and preventative maintenance skills.
5. Proficiency with mechanical inspection tools and software.
6. Valid Code 10 drivers license.
7. Ability to work in a fast-paced environment with a strong safety focus.

Preferred Skills:

1. Experience in mining, farming, or construction equipment maintenance.
2. Expertise in welding and maintaining yellow construction vehicles.
3. Strong communication, documentation, and teamwork skills.
4. Reliable, self-driven, and detail-oriented.
