Purpose of the job

We are seeking a DevSecOps Engineer with experience in designing, implementing and maintaining secure and large-scale, high-performance systems using AWS, Terraform, Kubernetes and Docker. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in infrastructure automation and be comfortable working with a variety of different technologies. They will work closely with development teams to integrate security practices into the software development lifecycle and ensure compliance with industry standards.

Key Responsibilities

  1. Act as an escalation point for any Cloud/CICD based issues.
  2. Act as an expert for cloud technologies (AWS) and advocate standards and best practices.
  3. Proactively ensure the infrastructure is secure and resilient, with sufficient monitoring and alerting.
  4. Handle security alerts confidently, implement standards and provide advice to other engineering teams.
  5. Build and run a technical platform which other engineering teams depend on, with developer experience and resilience in mind.
  6. Design and implement development pipelines with automation at the heart of every design.
  7. Use architectural experience to deliver development pipelines (CI/CD) and solution architecture.
  8. Work with partners in other teams to help deliver solutions for Collinson and its companies.
  9. Perform root cause analysis for underlying issues and incidents affecting systems performance and availability.
  10. Assist in the analysis and evaluation of vendor supplied software and hardware products.
  11. Translate business and customer requirements into solid and stable solutions.
  12. Execute projects and tasks independently and with limited direct supervision.
  13. Provide technical input into planning and implementation of complex upgrades, installations, and releases.
  14. Keep abreast of updates in information technology and communicate recommendations effectively.
  15. Make recommendations for improvement in respect of security processes, tooling and operational support.
  16. Participate in the on-call rotation to ensure a great customer experience.

Knowledge, skills and experience required

  1. Awareness of PCI and ISO27001 and their impact on infrastructure, networks and application designs.
  2. Proven track record of implementing secure and scalable cloud solutions on AWS.
  3. Experience with automated testing and deployment methodologies.
  4. AWS Certified to demonstrate theoretical awareness of best practices.
  5. Extensive experience with AWS services, including EC2, S3, IAM, VPC, and Lambda.
  6. Understanding of Source Control Systems, specifically Git.
  7. Experience with Infrastructure as Code, including Terraform.
  8. Scripting experience in PowerShell, Bash, or Python.
  9. Familiarity with Containerisation, specifically Docker & Kubernetes.
  10. Experience with Linux and Windows Server.
  11. Experience with monitoring and logging tools, ideally AppDynamics and Datadog.
  12. Working knowledge of networking technologies, including DNS, Firewall Configuration, WAF, and Load Balancing.
  13. Passionate to learn and develop new skills.
  14. The ability to work well as part of a multi-skilled team focused on a common goal.
