Job description
Purpose of Role:
As a Designer at Shop2Shop, you will play a critical role in shaping the visual identity of our brand and crafting creative assets that resonate with our audience. You will collaborate with cross-functional teams to deliver compelling and consistent designs for a variety of platforms, including digital, print, and in-store displays. Your design work will support marketing campaigns, product launches, customer communication, and more, ensuring that all designs are aligned with Shop2Shop’s vision and brand guidelines. The role includes interpreting briefs, designing creative concepts from scratch, reverts, obtaining approval and preparing final artwork and delivery collateral for the Shop2Shop brand that builds brand equity.
Key responsibilities

Deliver visually appealing designs:
Brainstorm and develop creative ideas tailored to the target audience and specific channels.
Evaluate briefs, incorporating product knowledge and research insights.
Present design solutions, gather feedback, and initiate the final creative process.
Collaborate with stakeholders to deliver innovative and high-quality campaigns and designs.
Review and ensure the accuracy of all artworks, including copy and layout considerations.

Ensure consistency in design:
Drive consistency, innovation, and freshness in digital and print design outputs.
Enhance credibility by continuously pushing for quality and innovation in design projects.

Manage Shop2Shop Corporate Identity (CI):
Oversee the creation and implementation of CI across the business.
Communicate CI updates effectively to all stakeholders.
Ensure adherence to CI guidelines in all design work and maintain brand alignment.
Provide quality control over all design concepts and projects.

Stay informed on creative developments:
Research and keep up to date with the latest graphic design trends.
Monitor industry developments that could add value to Shop2Shop.
Interpret and ensure briefs are documented and time-stamped in the system.
Ensure compliance with strategic direction, timelines, and client communication.
Oversee project prioritisation and internal process management.
Anticipate project issues and implement proactive solutions.
Conduct proof and production checks and maintain accurate project archives.

Professional and self-development:
Actively participate in monthly KPI meetings and one-on-one sessions to track progress and align on performance goals.
Take part in bi-annual performance reviews with the Head of Department to evaluate achievements and identify areas for growth.
Complete all required training courses to continuously develop skills and stay updated with industry best practices.

Creative and graphic design principles: Deep understanding of layout, typography, colour theory, and overall visual balance.
Shop2Shop Products: Familiar with company offerings, allowing designs to effectively align with product positioning and marketing goals.
UX/UI principles: Knowledge of user experience and interface design, contributing to the development of user-friendly digital platforms.
Skills
Design execution: Strong skills in creating visually appealing designs across various formats, including digital, print, and out-of-home (OOH) media.
Brief interpretation: Ability to understand and accurately translate project briefs into creative outputs that meet stakeholder expectations.
Verbal and written communication: Effective in conveying design ideas, feedback, and updates clearly to team members and stakeholders.
Computer proficiency: Advanced skills in relevant design software, ensuring efficient and effective project delivery.
Experience
Five years in design (Essential): Proven experience in developing high-quality design work in a fast-paced environment.
Marketing project execution (Essential): Experience managing design projects from conception through to production, ensuring consistency and quality.
Interactive media (Essential): Skilled in creating engaging interactive media designs that enhance user experience.
Design for various formats (Essential): Proficient in designing for print, digital platforms, OOH, and other media channels.
Web and App interface design (Desirable): Experience designing intuitive interfaces that improve user interaction and engagement.
Agency experience (Desirable): Background in working within agency environments, bringing a dynamic and client-focused approach to design work.
Animation and photography (Desirable): Experience in animation and photography, adding additional creative dimensions to design outputs.
Education
Grade 12 or Equivalent (Essential)
Three-year graphic design degree /diploma (Essential): Formal qualification in graphic design, providing a strong foundation in design principles and technical skills.

Other requirements:
Own vehicle and valid drivers licence
Willing to travel between offices as needed (Cape Town, Stellenbosch, Johannesburg)
