Reports to: The Registered Manager

Job Purpose: To achieve the highest possible standard of care in a professional manner through direct nursing care and effective supervision of staff members. Ensure that all company policies and procedures and all legal requirements are adhered to.

About You:

  • Registered Nurse (RGN/RMN) with current NMC registration
  • At least one year’s previous experience in a similar role within a Health and Social Care setting.
  • Experience supporting older people with variable health and social care needs.
  • Have a successful track record of delivering excellent care standards and clinical risk assessments.
  • Leadership experience and an understanding of the Care Inspectorate ‘quality framework for support services’ (2023)
  • Ability to work on own initiative.
  • Show compassion, resilience and a dynamic approach to deliver quality care in our engaging environment.

Job Overview:

  • To positively support the Registered Manager in providing leadership to the Northlands Staff Team.
  • To deputise for the function of the Registered Manager during their absence, whilst at all times supporting the decisions made by the Registered Manager.
  • To maintain skills at a current level and undertake such training and development to maintain best clinical practice.
  • To manage the service in accordance with standards agreed with the Registered Manager, the Registered Provider, legislative requirements, relevant regulations, and within the financial plans agreed with the Registered Provider.

Role-Specific Duties:

  • Ensure service users are at the heart of the care delivery and their wishes and preferences enhance their wellbeing.
  • The efficient and effective day-to-day management of the human resources involved in providing care through the staff team, ensuring that the required standards are maintained.
  • Maintaining all recording systems and organisational documentation are of a high standard and up to date.
  • To ensure all staff at the service receive formal supervision and appraisals.
  • Oversee the duty rota monthly in advance ensuring the correct skills and numbers on duty for safe staffing.
  • Be responsible for promoting and protecting the welfare of those individuals supported by the service.

Working with Others:

  • Develop effective working relationships with all employees within the service.
  • Work in cooperation with members of the multidisciplinary teams to maximise opportunities for people in the service.

Personal and Professional Development:

  • Attend statutory training and any other development as directed by management.
  • Seek opportunities for personal and professional growth.
  • Work within the relevant Codes of Conduct, NMC / SSSC.
