OUR SCHOOL

Reddam House Waterfall is a co-educational and non-denominational environment designed to recognise, nurture and develop the individuality of each student placed in our care and to extend students to their maximum potential in all aspects of education. Our teachers understand the importance of forming a relationship with each child, built on trust and mutual respect.

The school's architecture is perfectly suited to the rustic environment it finds itself in, with wood and stone-clad walls. The tranquil setting provides an atmosphere that is conducive to discovery and learning.

Phase 1 of the Preparatory and Secondary School was opened in 2014 with students, and with community confidence, the student body grew to more than 600 students in 2016 and has continued to grow each subsequent year. The school is designed ultimately to accommodate 1,200 students.

A caring, close-knit Reddam House community welcomes children from 1 year old to Grade 12. We nurture individuality, talent, and self-assurance in a secure, relaxed, and self-disciplined environment.

Catering for Stage 1 to Grade 12 students, affiliated to the Independent Examinations Board (IEB) – and offering a diverse, stimulating subject choice – highly qualified, dynamic, experienced teachers are the custodians of your child's future. All students in our Preparatory School are required to participate in at least two extra-curricular activities per week: one sporting and one cultural. We encourage as much participation and involvement as possible.

The Music @ Reddam programme is a wonderful curriculum offering for all students in Grades 4 – 6. This programme involves an individual instrumental music lesson, as well as participation in an ensemble. All students are involved in the Reddam Gives Back Programme, whereby each class chooses a project in the wider community and facilitates the needs of their chosen programme during the year.

ROLE SUMMARY

To adopt a leadership role within the College ensuring a holistic view to students and staff. Promoting the general progress and well-being of all students and teachers, specifically focusing on guaranteeing a high level of academic and pastoral support in the Middle School. Create a positive learning environment and motivate teachers and students to ensure an education at the highest level.

Carry out duties of a subject teacher.

Part of the campus management team.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

1. Internal Academic and Pastoral responsibilities
2. Set and reflect on academic targets as well as evaluate the outcomes continuously.
3. Monitor, manage and implement work schedules.
4. Ensure communication with parents of students who are underperforming, indicating areas of concern and suggesting remedial action and/or further assessment.
5. Planning and running of mid-year and year-end examinations.
6. Oversee the reporting system.
7. Draw up the timetable.
8. Assist in planning and running mid-year and year-end award ceremonies.
9. Carry out class teaching duties/responsibilities.
10. Act as the custodian of discipline in the Middle School.

External Academic Responsibility

1. Be available to attend parent meetings and ensure that all relevant details that pertain to the student are available and on file for future reference and counseling sessions.
2. Communicate with parents at functions/meetings/Information evenings regarding academic matters.
3. Responsible for all correspondence with IEB/ISASA/Dept. of Education for all relevant Middle School matters.

2. Adaptable teaching style incorporating feedback to parents and students.
3. A depth of understanding requirements in the relevant grades.
4. Ability to judge learning effectiveness.
5. Assessment of student outcomes and feedback to enhance performance.
6. Genuine care and attention to the highest standards of student welfare.
7. Be involved in the interview process, interviewing prospective new staff members with senior management.
8. Take responsibility and assist with the mentorship of all new staff members.
9. Be approachable and caring to students, parents, and colleagues.
10. Work on being an individual with high EQ.
11. A minimum of 3-5 years experience in a management role will be advantageous.
12. University qualification.
13. Certified Teaching Status.
14. SACE accredited.
