Job description

CORE PURPOSE OF JOB

The primary objectives of this role at Nelson Mandela University are to -

  • ensure effective governance administration by directing and overseeing the delivery of secretariat services to the University's governance structures;
  • ensure efficient information management and compliance with legislation by leading the records management function and offering strategic guidance on the implementation of Enterprise Content Management (ECM); and
  • support the Registrar in fulfilling all institutional governance responsibilities.

KEY PERFORMANCE AREAS


  • Directing the delivery of Committee Secretariat services to the University's governance structures.
  • Managing tasks related to governance matters.
  • Directing and guiding the implementation of an effective Content Management system that supports regulatory, legal, risk, and operational governance needs.
  • Setting the Department's overall strategic direction.
  • Ensuring the efficient management and allocation of human, financial, and infrastructure resources.

CORE COMPETENCIES


  • Experience in the provision of secretariat services to structures/bodies at least at the executive management level.
  • Proven knowledge of governance practices and principles.
  • Proven development and execution of strategies to enhance governance and content management.
  • Experience in policy and procedure development, implementation, evaluation, and monitoring.
  • Proficiency in English, both written and oral communication.
  • Proven ability to draft managerial reports.
  • Ability to identify enhancements, interpret, and apply regulatory or policy provisions within the incumbent's area of responsibility.
  • Proven project management, problem-solving, presentation, and training skills.
  • Applied knowledge of Enterprise Content Management (ECM) (including legislation, systems, policies, procedures, and principles).
  • The ability to conduct comparative analysis of policy, practices, and legislation in higher education and distil key elements in the best interest of the University.

Requirements


In order to be considered for appointment to this post, candidates must possess:

  • Relevant M+4 qualification.
  • 5 Years’ governance administration experience, preferably in a higher education governance administration environment, of which at least 3 years must have been at managerial level.
