Job description

We are seeking a Depot Manager for a permanent vacancy based in Hermanus, Western Cape.

Applicants are required to meet the following criteria:

  • Grade 12 required, tertiary qualification in electrical engineering advantageous
  • 5+ years branch management experience and must have a strong knowledge of electrical products
  • Strong ability on MS Office, and practical experience on Netstock/K8 advantageous
  • Ideally must have a good knowledge of the area, and have a stable work record
  • Must be fluent in English & Afrikaans
  • Due to their equity requirements, an EE candidate is required

The successful applicant would be responsible for, but not limited to:

  • Liaise with major buyers/suppliers/manufacturers
  • Negotiate with suppliers to obtain the best possible price
  • Source new customer accounts
  • Assess local market conditions and identify sales opportunities
  • Encourage and assist to maintain good relationships with customers
  • Assist sales team to achieve profit targets and objectives for the branch
  • Assist at the sales counters when necessary
  • Ensure all sales related queries are addressed
  • Ensure the system is updated with regards to pricing
  • Conduct regular sales meetings with sales team
  • Manage commission and overtime claims
  • Inspect and authorize all credit notes
  • Ensure journals are complete and correct & transactions reconciled
  • Control and maintain all petty cash transactions
  • Ensure banking is done daily and deposit slips are filed and balanced
  • Assist with quotations and tender documents
  • Submit and follow up with tenders
  • Assist internal and external auditors where necessary
  • Control and monitor all general expenses
  • Monitor stock levels at all times
  • Ensure stock is processed and dispatched & received correctly and timeously
  • Manage the branch administration, sales and warehouse personnel and maintain an attendance register and sign off on absenteeism
  • Ensure safety regulations are adhered to at all times
  • Organize training and development in branch when required
  • Keep informed and liaise with head office on any Industrial Relations / H&S issues
  • Monitor performance of all employees and motivate staff
