Job Title: Debtors Clerk, Finance Department (Re-advertisement)

Faculty: Cape Peninsula University of Technology

Campus/ Location: District Six Campus - Cape Town, WC ZA (Primary)

Job Type: Permanent

Occupational Function: Support / Admin

Number of Positions: 1

Annual Salary Package: To be confirmed

Job Purpose: To assist with the implementation of the Student Debt Management Policy including but not limited to the processing of adjustments and collection of outstanding debt.

Job Knowledge, Skills and Experience:

  • Two (2) years relevant experience in a Debtors environment

Recommendations:

  • Debtors' experience within a higher education environment and knowledge of ITS.
  • A National Diploma (3-year qualification) in a Business Studies field with Accounting as a subject.

Key Performance Areas / Principal Accountabilities:

  • Follow up on outstanding debt and payment arrangements
  • Process adjustments to student accounts
  • Attend to queries
  • Allocate funds in respect of Bursaries and Loans
  • Ensure that all Rebates are processed in line with the applicable policies
  • Assist with processing student refunds
  • Verify Graduation lists
  • Assist with sending out Final Demand letters
  • Other ad-hoc duties assigned by line manager
  • Working knowledge of relevant legislation including National Credit Act and Prescription Act
  • Excellent communication skills (Written and verbal)
  • Good interpersonal skills and customer service skills
  • Computer Literacy including Excel
  • Planning and organizing skills
  • Teamwork
  • Client focus
  • Working under pressure/Stress tolerance
