Data Engineering Team Lead

Job Description

Our client in the banking industry is looking for a Delivery Lead (Technology Team Lead) in the area of Data Engineering. The purpose of this role is to provide directions and lead a data warehouse team responsible for the full product lifecycle of the software components in the central warehouse, to ensure successful delivery of the required functionality and maintenance related tasks within Bank Data Operations.

Key Responsibilities:

1. Oversee the ongoing drive to increase efficiency, optimisation, innovation, and people development in these environments.
2. Act as competency lead for the Data Engineering function in the Client Value product line.

Minimum Experience:

1. Grade 12 National Certificate / Vocational.
2. At least 5 to 7 years’ engineering experience in data warehouse software development, or at least 4 years engineering and 2 years’ experience in leading a technical team.
3. Experience in warehousing, databases, and stored procedure development.
4. Stakeholder relationship engagement and management.
5. Responsibility for delivery in a fast-moving environment.
6. Incident and Problem management.
7. Work allocation, priority setting, and delivery management.
8. Banking industry experience.
9. Business analysis and design.
10. Project Management principles and methodologies.
11. Systems Development Life Cycle (SDLC).

Qualifications (Ideal or Preferred):

1. Bachelor's Degree in Information Technology - Computer Science or Information Technology - Programming.
2. Knowledge of Kimball methodology.
3. Warehouse data processing.
4. Agile principles and methodologies.
5. General business acumen.
6. Banking industry knowledge.
7. Budgeting and accounting principles.
8. Business analysis and design.
9. Project Management principles and methodologies.
10. Systems Development Life Cycle (SDLC).
