Data Engineer

Accenture has partnered with a leading Pan-African telecommunications company and has launched a groundbreaking Software Engineering Centre of Excellence dedicated to building future-focused digital products designed to empower and revolutionize the continent. We are looking for Data Engineers (juniors, intermediate and seniors) with a background in data science and engineering, and a proven track record of working with large datasets.

Key Responsibilities:

1. Data Analysis and Interpretation: Analyze and interpret complex datasets to uncover trends, patterns, and actionable insights. Develop and implement advanced statistical models to solve business problems.
2. Data Engineering: Design, develop, and maintain scalable data pipelines and architectures. Ensure data quality, integrity, and security across various sources. Optimize data storage solutions for efficiency and performance.
3. Project Leadership: Lead data engineering projects from conception to deployment. Coordinate with cross-functional teams, including product, engineering, and business stakeholders, to ensure successful project delivery. Define project scope, goals, and deliverables that support business objectives.
4. Mentorship and Collaboration: Mentor and provide guidance to junior data engineers. Foster a collaborative and innovative team environment. Communicate complex technical concepts and insights to non-technical stakeholders.
5. Research and Development: Stay current with the latest advancements in data engineering. Experiment with new tools, techniques, and technologies to continuously improve data processes and analytics.
6. Deployment and Maintenance: Deploy and monitor data pipelines in production environments. Continuously improve and maintain existing data models and infrastructure. Implement best practices for model management and version control.

Qualifications and Skills:

1. Degree in Computer Science, Statistics, Engineering, or a related field.
2. Strong experience in data engineering.
3. Proven experience leading data projects and managing teams.
4. Extensive experience with data analysis and statistical modeling.
5. Proficiency in programming languages such as Python, R, or Scala.
6. Expertise in data processing frameworks like Apache Spark, Hadoop, or similar.
7. Strong SQL skills and experience with relational and NoSQL databases.
8. Familiarity with cloud platforms such as Azure or Google Cloud.
9. Advanced knowledge of data visualization tools like Tableau, Power BI, or similar.
