REPORTS TO: Head of Engineering

LOCATION: Johannesburg

QUALIFICATIONS: Bachelor's Degree in Engineering / BTech Engineering. Relevant industry experience in lieu of qualification.

EXPERIENCE REQUIRED:

1. Minimum 3-5 years in a Solar PV environment or engineering project management environment.
2. Experience within Operations and Maintenance in the Renewable Energy sector would be highly advantageous.
3. Strong technical knowledge of solar PV systems and associated components.
4. Familiarity with monitoring systems and data analysis tools.
5. Effective communication skills for collaboration with internal teams and external service providers.
6. Knowledge and application of relevant compliance requirements with complex contractual entities.
7. Must be fully proficient in English (verbal and written communication).
8. Must be fully computer literate (MS Office Suite and Google App Suite).

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

Key Responsibilities:

1. Technical Operations and Maintenance Management: Manage Portfolio of sites and Operations Portfolio Coordinators in the team.
2. Oversee Daily monitoring of Meteocontrol VCOM and Copper – ensuring plants are performing optimally (Monitoring to be performed at string level).
3. Review Offline Meter list and ensure minimal downtime in accordance to the O&M response matrix.
4. Review Inverter offlines on VCOM list and ensure minimal downtime in accordance to the O&M response matrix.
5. Review of plant yield mechanisms (PR or Yield Guarantee percentage) and ensure plant yields meet stipulated monthly guarantees.
6. Oversee and Drive alerts to O&M team for equipment misproductions, cleaning of plants, periodic inspections and oversee repair / replacement process.
7. Communicate with SiteTrack and Quantify BOO plant production and production interruption events (load shedding, low irradiance, module theft, module upliftment, inverter misproduction, plant offlines and so on).
8. Establish Weekly check in and feedback meetings with O&M Manager.
9. Perform Red Flag Analysis weekly and notify Head of Asset Management and Head of O&M for intervention.
10. Equipment Audits to identify nonperforming brands / equipment types.
11. Introduce cost saving initiatives.
12. Oversee and Track O&M and Metering Activities till Completion of Activity.
13. Manage Subcontractors for cleans and Technical Works.
14. Execute the Management Service Agreements for the portfolio of projects for which you are responsible.
15. Assist your line manager on projects and tasks as required.
16. Tracking of Equipment Warranties and notifying in advance when warranties are close to lapsing.
17. Alert Account manager / Client as to significant System events by next business day.
18. Work closely with Head of Asset Management to drive operational efficiency strategies.
19. Manage and coordinate projects within built and operational BOO Assets.
20. Drive operational efficiency strategies by utilising Lean and Six Sigma Principles.
21. Perform SPV logs for plants under your portfolio.
22. Serve as Technical Advisor for upcoming plants per region.
23. Document Control: Keeping the site-specific maintenance records up to date by logging the specific dates that plants were serviced.
24. Review of post construction handover documentation and ensuring that the electronic copies are captured into the relevant O&M folders on SharePoint.
25. Monitor plant in accordance with the O&M contract.
26. Generate quarterly yield performance reports for Asset Owners per Portfolio.

Commercial and Financial:

1. Solid Understanding of O&M SLA and PPA's.
2. Perform Yield (kWh) Budgets (Predicted vs Actual), forecast for 3 months ahead, per portfolio.
3. Perform loss of revenue analysis (Power Outage events, Customer production disruption events (out of contract), weather induced events).
4. Ensure invoicing is correctly performed per generated energy and ensure correct tariffs are applied.
5. Oversee application of Tariff changes / contractual increases in PPA rates.

Reporting and Analysis:

1. Plant SPV reports with detailed logs – sent out 7th of each month.
2. Performance of Portfolio Reports done bi-weekly (technical).
3. Red Flag Analysis Reports done weekly.
4. Adhoc Performance Analysis Reports for Portfolio's / Plant Specific.
5. Assist Head of Asset Management with Technical Plant Performance Reports.

Stakeholder Management:

1. Coordinate with Head of O&M and O&M manager.
2. Represent from a Technical Perspective in terms of plant performances with relevant stakeholders.
3. Serve as Technical Representative for various stakeholders under BOO Assets.
4. Work Closely with Asset Managers.

People Management:

1. Weekly check in with team members and support teams.
2. Coach and Develop team members reporting to you.
3. Motivate and maintain high team morale and productivity.
4. Drive Company Values and Culture to team members.
