Job Purpose

The Data and BI Analyst role entails assisting the modelling and analytics team within CEC with all analytics, reporting and data needs. The analyst will investigate large data related to Cell C Postpaid invoicing, collections and user insights. The main aim of the role is to provide detailed feedback to business on key business metrics and assist the modelling team to drive strategic decision-making and better understand customer behaviour and credit experience.

Responsibilities

Data Analytics

1. Preparing, analysing and validating data to enable quantitative analysis for statistical and modelling team.
2. Explore data to understand its structure and characteristics, including generating summary statistics, visualizing data distributions, and identifying patterns or trends.
3. Gather, analyze, and interpret large datasets from multiple sources to identify patterns, trends, and correlations.
4. Apply statistical methodologies and data mining techniques to extract meaningful insights.
5. Conduct ad-hoc analyses to address specific business questions or challenges.
6. Design and build data models, dashboards, and reports using business intelligence tools to visualize data and provide actionable insights.
7. Collaborate with stakeholders to define key performance indicators (KPIs) and set up reporting frameworks.

Governance / Compliance

1. Ensure that data handling practices adhere to data governance policies and relevant regulations, such as to protect data privacy and security.
2. Present findings and recommendations to senior management and key stakeholders in a clear and concise manner.
3. Collaborate with stakeholders to understand their requirements and translate them into actionable data solutions.
4. Foster strong working relationships with the modelling and analytics teams and ensure effective communication of insights and recommendations.
5. Keep up to date with emerging technologies and tools in data analysis and business intelligence.
6. Identify opportunities to automate data analysis processes and enhance reporting efficiency.
7. Proactively seek feedback from stakeholders and take initiative to improve data driven decision-making processes.

Data Reporting

1. The core of the role involves improving and enhancing current data sources as well as providing meaningful reports to management.
2. Maintain and investigate current reporting with a key focus on improving reporting to the executive team.
3. Development of new and dynamic reports based on key data insights and analytics performed.

Client & Customer Management (Internal)

1. Act as a business partner to important internal customers and manage relationships with them, while taking guidance from senior colleagues.

Internal Communications

1. Develop and/or deliver a plan for significant aspects of internal communications with guidance from senior colleagues.

Needs Assessment

1. Uncover emerging issues or needs, identifying potential causes, barriers and key stakeholders as well as related issues.

Policy Development & Implementation

1. Develop procedures and interprets and applies policy for area of expertise to achieve specified outputs, or advise the wider business on application of policy, then monitor implementation of those procedures within the organization.

Strategic Planning

1. Develop and/or deliver elements of a strategic planning system with guidance from senior colleagues.

Financial Management and Control

1. Work within established systems to deliver prescribed outcomes for a designated area of financial control.

Operations Management

1. Supervise others working within established operational systems.
2. Develop short- or medium-term work schedules in order to achieve planned commitments.
3. Approve overtime or use additional resources as needed.

Education

1. General Education: Bachelors Degree in Computer Science, Informatics, Actuarial Science or Engineering. Other qualifications will be considered if accompanied by relevant experience.

Experience

1. General Experience: Between 3-5 years' experience in data analytics or business information. Telco related experience would be beneficial but not required. Proficient in data analysis tools.
2. Solid understanding of statistical methodologies and possesses strong business acumen.
