ROLE PROFILE – DATA ANALYST/JUNIOR DATA SCIENTIST

Job Type: Full-Time

Job Description: We are looking for a highly skilled and detail-oriented Data Analyst to join our Business Intelligence (‘BI’) team. The ideal candidate will have experience in data analysis, reporting and visualisation using Power BI, Excel and other tools in the Power Platform. In this role, you’ll collaborate with cross-functional teams to provide data-driven insights that inform business decisions. Strong communication skills and a passion for learning are essential, particularly in expanding your expertise in programming languages like Python and PostgreSQL for advanced analytics.

Key Responsibilities:

1. Collect, clean, and analyse large datasets from multiple sources
2. Develop and maintain interactive dashboards and reports using Power BI
3. Perform data manipulation, reporting and forecasting with Excel
4. Collaborate with teams to understand data needs and assist in creating Power BI/Excel dashboards
5. Automate business processes using Power Platform tools (Power Automate, Power Apps)
6. Review and improve current business processes
7. Capture business requirements and create user stories using Agile methodologies
8. Translate data insights into clear, actionable recommendations through reports and presentations
9. Ensure accuracy and consistency in data reporting
10. Identify trends, patterns and business improvement opportunities
11. Continuously enhance data analysis skills, including proficiency in Python, PostgreSQL and other relevant tools.

Required Experience and Qualifications:

· Bachelor’s degree in Mathematics, Statistics, Actuarial Science, Data Science, Computer Science or related fields

· Two to four years of proven experience as a Data Analyst or in a similar role.

Knowledge/Technical Skills/Expertise:

1. Strong proficiency in Power BI for data visualisation and reporting
2. Advanced Excel skills, including pivot tables, formulas and data analysis tools
3. Familiarity with Power Platform tools (Power Automate, Power Apps) is a plus
4. Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to simplify complex information
5. Strong problem-solving skills and attention to detail
6. Eagerness to learn new skills and tools
7. Ability to work independently and in a team in a fast-paced environment.

Preferred Experience/Technical Skills:

Experience with SQL, Python and machine learning

Knowledge of statistical analysis and modelling techniques

Prior experience in the financial services industry is advantageous.
