Data Analyst

Job Description

Join our dynamic team at a leading global payments FinTech as we seek a versatile Data Analyst to contribute to our South African operations. Under the guidance of the Head of Data and VAS at Payfast, you'll assist all areas of the business in their decision-making and operations by drawing valuable insights from our data and solving a range of interesting and complex problems.

Responsibilities

1. Use your knowledge, skills and experience to support the business in decision-making by turning raw data into valuable information and insights.
2. Present and communicate insights to stakeholders in a way that is understandable and actionable.
3. Manage daily data requests from internal and external stakeholders to address their data needs.
4. Implement, maintain and optimize data automation processes to improve efficiencies and enable scalable solutions across all areas of the business.
5. Operate in a fast-paced environment to solve a wide range of problems by leveraging internal business understanding and using first-principle thinking.
6. Work across multiple departments and interact with several different databases and systems.
7. Work in a small, agile data team and contribute to an evolving company that is on a data maturity journey.
8. Effectively document work and actively partake in knowledge-sharing within the team.

Qualifications

1. Bachelor's degree or other 3-year tertiary qualification in a relevant field.
2. Proven working experience in data analysis.
3. Advanced knowledge of Microsoft Excel and PowerPoint.
4. Strong SQL experience.
5. Experience using Python for data analysis and automation.
6. Knowledge of visualization tools such as Tableau, QlikSense, PowerBI, Looker or Grafana.
7. Problem-solving skills.
8. Strong verbal and written communication skills.
9. Advantageous if you have knowledge of the payments or banking industry.
10. Advantageous if you have technical proficiency in database design and data models.
