The role of the Information Security Specialist is beyond ticking compliance boxes; however, the strategy demands enabling operational and business efficiencies.
Overview:
Education: Matric – Essential, Bachelor's degree in technology or Business Management - Essential, Masters / Management Degree in Technology / Cybersecurity – Advantageous
Experience: 7 to 10 years required
Technical Skills: Ability to work across the cyber security technology landscape, i.e., from the end-point to the CLOUD.
Key Responsibilities:
- Defines and establishes directives, ensuring standards & processes meet regulatory requirements and business needs.
- End-to-end ability to operationalize technology solutions irrespective of platform.
- Identity access management and governance.
Knowledge Sharing:
- Designing and implementing innovative Identity and Access Governance (IAG) enabling technologies.
- Continually improve security and governance processes to enhance efficiency and effectiveness of controls, with a primary focus on logical access controls.
- Improve system capabilities to increase uptime and availability through system integration and process re-design.
- Provide SME input into IT and Security roadmaps and ensure security and governance in current designs.
- Coordinate Security vendors and internal operational teams to ensure both internal and external SLAs are being met.
- Incident Management of Severity 1 and 2 incidents.
Duties:
- Configuration, installation, and support of IAG and other Security enabling technologies.
- Developing and maintaining up-to-date AS-IS documentation of the solutions.
- Developing user training for IAG and Security controls as required.
- Performing regular tests to confirm optimal working conditions of implemented configurations.
- Managing, monitoring, and reporting of performance and other issues.
- Perform / Automate daily system integrity checks.
- Responding to inquiries to provide technical assistance and support.

- Business Management: Strong reporting capability and functionally to be developed.
