Customs Brokerage Manager

Our esteemed client, who is a globally renowned clearing and forwarding agent, seeks a Customs Product Manager to join their Durban branch based in Umhlanga. Are you a Customs-guru who is looking for a new challenge? This unique role seeks an individual with sound customs knowledge and experience who can grow the customs product.

Duties

1. Staff management.
2. Ensure all classification instructions for all shipments for all customers.
3. Monitor duty deferment usage and levels.
4. Monitor license/visa applications.
5. Ensure all new business is transitioned correctly.
6. Make 20 calls per month – Retention/Sales.
7. Maintain a positive relationship with the Trade Compliance Manager and support all compliance efforts and trainings.
8. Promote productivity tools (e.g., using edoc, process management, customsware usage/Expo customs).
9. Audit of files in accordance to AEO.
10. Follow up refunds with customs authorities.
11. Management of customs system.
12. Send client report requests through the available database (expo request, expo reporting).
13. Provide content for customer reviews – duty/VAT.
14. Be open to implementing new system changes and enhancements into your department.
15. Review and conduct staff appraisals and one to one meeting timely in line with the 3+1 Initiative.
16. Assist supervisor and key staff with goal setting and monitoring development.

Requirements

1. Matric.
2. 3-5 years of Customs Broker’s specific knowledge.
3. Global logistics industry knowledge.
4. Proven problem-solving, interpersonal, communication and leadership skills.
