Our client is looking for an Operations Specialist: Tautliners & Fridges to join their team in Stellenbosch, WC.

The successful candidate will oversee the day-to-day operations of the tautliner and refrigerated container fleet, ensuring efficient and cost-effective movement of goods across intermodal transport modes.

This role requires a strong focus on fleet management, operational efficiency, compliance, and customer satisfaction.

Responsibilities:

1. Oversee daily operations of the tautliner and refrigerated container fleets, ensuring efficient and timely processing of shipments.
2. Coordinate and monitor the loading and unloading of containers, adhering to safety standards and customer requirements.
3. Develop and implement operational procedures to optimize fleet performance and reduce costs.
4. Manage fleet availability, scheduling, and maintenance to maximize utilization and minimize downtime.
5. Ensure proper maintenance of refrigerated containers to maintain cargo integrity and compliance with temperature control requirements.
6. Track and analyze fleet performance metrics to identify areas for improvement.
7. Lead, supervise, and mentor a team of operations personnel, providing guidance and support.
8. Collaborate with other departments to ensure seamless operations and resolve issues.
9. Maintain strong relationships with customers, vendors, and carriers to meet service level agreements (SLAs).
10. Address customer inquiries and complaints promptly to ensure high levels of satisfaction.
11. Ensure compliance with safety standards, industry guidelines, and environmental policies.
12. Conduct regular audits to ensure adherence to company policies and safety standards.
13. Prepare and present regular reports on fleet performance, operational efficiency, and cost management.
14. Analyze operational data to identify trends and recommend process improvements.

Requirements:

1. Grade 12 qualification (essential).
2. Bachelor's degree in Logistics, Supply Chain Management, Business Administration, or a related field.
3. Minimum of 5 years of experience in intermodal operations, logistics, or fleet management.
4. Strong experience managing tautliner and refrigerated container fleets.
5. Must be bilingual in Afrikaans and English (written and verbal).
6. Proven leadership skills with the ability to manage and motivate a team effectively.
7. In-depth knowledge of intermodal transportation, fleet operations, and cold chain logistics.
8. Strong understanding of safety, regulatory compliance, and industry best practices.
9. Proficient in logistics software, fleet management systems, and Microsoft Office Suite.
10. Excellent communication, problem-solving, and organizational skills.
11. Solid understanding of intermodal transportation operations, including rail, trucking, ocean freight, and port operations.
12. Strong knowledge of South African geography.
13. Working knowledge of Transportation Management Software.
14. Strong negotiation and decision-making skills.
