Job Summary

Monitoring and mitigation of credit risk faced by the Bank through the daily monitoring of credit exposures. Maintenance of a control framework that enhances and improves the excess management reporting process.

Job Description

Accountability: Management of exposures across the full suite of Absa product

  1. Daily monitoring of credit exposures and investigation of excesses prior to escalation.
  2. Initiating of excess reports as required by Policies.
  3. Compiling and checking reports for distribution.
  4. Reduce the number of excesses on all reports for Absa Wholesale through discussion with Traders, Credit, Relationship Managers and other Infrastructure areas of the Bank.
  5. Draft and implement credit policies to improve exposure management. Ensure they are kept relevant and up to date.
  6. Draft reporting packs and interpret data trends to identify potential flaws in the business.
  7. Drive culture and system changes necessary to reduce number of excesses.
  8. Identifying new potential credit risks and the mitigation thereof through understanding of new products introduced and the new products approval process.
  9. Assist IT in credit related system developments, when required and the auditing of those systems to ensure efficient running of the EM and credit process. User Acceptance Testing of the recommendations to be undertaken.
  10. Initiate, implement and manage a project to conclusion with little or no oversight from management. Ability to drive other teams where collaboration is required and ability to escalate as necessary.
  11. Generate and interpret monthly MI identifying trends and prioritizing potential risks Compliance with Audit recommendations and managing audit (internal and audit).

Accountability: Relationship and stakeholder management

  1. Build relationships and regularly engage with stakeholders with a view to meeting their requirements and anticipating their needs for the business.
  2. Ensuring access to all Credit systems for FO and all Infrastructure areas and annual attestation of those areas.
  3. Initial point of contact for dealers for urgent over-limit transactions, and to initiate appropriate actions/recommendations.
  4. Working with all stakeholders to resolve and solution impediments to business.

Exposure to Derivatives, spots, Debt Finance and Markets insight.

Education

Bachelor`s Degrees and Advanced Diplomas: Business, Commerce and Management Studies (Required)
