Job Overview

The Creative Strategist will play a crucial role in shaping and executing innovative strategies that drive the success of both new business proposals and existing client campaigns. You will craft impactful, trend-driven strategies that align with the latest digital, social, influencer, and consumer behavior trends, while ensuring consistency with the brand's industry positioning and key objectives. As a core member of our team, you will work closely with cross-functional departments to drive business growth, encompassing both new business strategies and current client strategies.

This role requires a deep understanding of the influencer landscape, a passion for creative problem-solving, and the ability to translate data and insights into actionable plans.

Key Responsibilities

Campaign Strategy Development: Design and execute comprehensive influencer marketing strategies tailored to specific client objectives, brand voice, and target audience.

Brand & Market Research: Conduct in-depth research and competitor analysis within different brand industries, define target audiences and identify opportunities, providing data-driven strategic recommendations.

KPIs & Measurement Frameworks: Establish key performance indicators (KPIs) based on industry standards and develop measurement frameworks for each strategy.

Concept Development: Lead the ideation and creation of innovative campaign concepts that align with client goals, brand identity, and audience interests. Collaborate with cross-functional teams to refine concepts, ensuring they are both creatively compelling and strategically sound, while staying ahead of industry trends and consumer preferences.

Influencer Selection: Identify and recommend influencers that align with campaign strategies and client proposals, ensuring their audience, content style, and values match the brand’s goals. Leverage data-driven insights to assess influencer performance, audience engagement, and relevance, making strategic suggestions that enhance campaign effectiveness and authenticity.

Content Recommendations: Provide relevant content references tailored to specific social media channels, ensuring alignment with client strategies and proposals. Curate and suggest engaging, platform-appropriate content formats that resonate with target audiences, while staying current with platform trends and best practices to maximise reach and engagement.

Trend Analysis & Insights: Stay ahead of industry trends and best practices in influencer marketing to develop innovative strategies.

Collaboration: Work closely with internal teams from New Business, Client Service, and Innovation & Marketing to align on strategies, ensure seamless execution, and drive cohesive, high-impact campaigns that meet client objectives and exceed expectations.

Presentations & Pitches (if required): Present strategies to clients, clearly articulating the creative and strategic vision, as well as the value proposition, to ensure alignment and buy-in on campaign direction and objectives.

Key Requirements

  • Proven experience in creative strategy, influencer marketing and digital/social media marketing (understanding of African markets is a plus but not a requirement).
  • Strong understanding of the influencer industry, social media platforms, different content formats and trends.
  • Creative mindset with a passion for storytelling and brand development.
  • Strong analytical and problem solving abilities with the skill to interpret data and generate actionable insights.
  • Excellent project management skills and the ability to handle multiple projects at once.
  • Familiarity with social media analytics and influencer marketing tools/platforms (e.g., Upfluence, AspireIQ, etc.).
  • Experience with CRM tools and campaign management software.
  • Proficient in Google Workspace and Microsoft Office Suite.
  • Understanding of Canva and familiarity with design tools is a plus but not a requirement.
  • Ability to excel in a fast-paced, dynamic environment and work collaboratively across teams.
  • Exceptional communication skills, (with the confidence to present and pitch strategies effectively, while actively engaging with clients - if required.)
  • Capable of analysing feedback and optimising strategies for continuous improvement.

Qualifications / Experience Required

  • Bachelor’s degree in Marketing, Communications, or a related field.
  • Minimum 2 years experience in influencer marketing or a related role.
  • Agency experience is required.
