Job description

The International Finance Corporation (IFC) – a member of the World Bank Group – is the largest global development institution focused on the private sector in emerging markets.

It works in more than developing countries, using capital, mobilization capacity, expertise, and influence to create jobs and raise living standards for people. IFC's mission in South Africa with its Country Management Unit is to advance economic development by encouraging the growth of private enterprise in developing countries.

Position Overview

As Country Program Analyst, you will support IFC by:

  • Assisting in conducting research to identify opportunities in priority sectors for IFC growth and documenting potential impact stories;
  • Supporting mapping of key sectors, events, and opportunities to expand IFC's presence in new areas;
  • Contributing to monthly and quarterly updates and briefs on the country program, including investment, advisory services, and country economics;
  • Assisting in preparing country briefs for senior management for meetings and visits;
  • Helping develop presentations, talking points, and background research for high-level meetings and events.

This position is part of the Talent programme "Swiss Youth at the United Nations / World Bank Group" and is sponsored by the State Secretariat for Economic Affairs (SECO).

An International UN Youth Volunteer contract ensures that travel, relocation, and UN health insurance costs are covered. Additionally, a monthly living allowance is paid.

Minimum Requirements

For the programme:

  • Swiss nationality;
  • Master's degree;
  • Ideally 12 months of relevant professional experience (min. 3 months - max. 24 months);
  • Max. 28 years old at the date of application;
  • Excellent command of English and 2 official Swiss languages (one active = C1 / C2, one passive = A2 / B1);
  • Proven interest in joining the international cooperation sector.

For this position:

  • Master's degree in Business Administration, International Relations, Communications, or a related field;
  • Demonstrated interest and/or experience (ideally one year) in research and analysis, preferably within the finance or development sectors, through coursework, internships, or projects;
  • Writing and presentation skills, with the ability to convey complex information clearly and concisely;
  • Excellent organizational skills and attention to detail;
  • Fluent in English.

Selected candidates will be informed towards the end of June. Onboarding and training: The onboarding process will start after the selection. Selected candidates will have to attend mandatory pre-departure training in August. Entry on duty: Departure is possible after the mandatory training.
