Cost Accountant

Our client within the distribution space in South Africa and further African regions is currently seeking a highly analytical Cost Accountant to join their growing team. We are seeking someone with strong exposure to cost analysis, reporting, inventory costing, budgeting, and forecasting. This role will be on-site, based in the Northern Suburbs of Cape Town.

Responsibilities:

1. Cost Analysis & Reporting - Prepare and analyze cost reports, identifying trends and areas for cost reduction.
2. Conduct variance analysis to compare actual costs against budgets and forecasts and provide recommendations on cost-saving initiatives.
3. Inventory & Production Costing - Monitor and evaluate inventory costs, including raw materials, work-in-progress, and finished goods.
4. Implement standard costing ensuring accurate product costing and support stock valuation and control.
5. Budgeting & Forecasting - Assist in the preparation of cost budgets and forecasts. Monitoring cost performance against budgeted targets.
6. Financial Control - Ensure adherence to cost accounting standards and internal controls, supporting internal and external audits by providing cost-related data.
7. Maintain compliance with relevant financial regulations and policies.
8. Identify opportunities for operational efficiencies and cost reduction.
9. Collaborate with production, procurement, and finance teams to streamline cost management processes.

Requirements:

1. Relevant bachelor's degree - CIMA advantageous.
2. 5+ years relevant experience within a cost accounting related role.
3. Experience within a similar industry advantageous.
4. Analytical skills with proficiency in MS Office and MS Excel.
