Sovereign, a national supplier of quality chicken products to various markets with operations in five provinces, is seeking a thorough and committed individual for the position of Cost Accountant for its Finance operations in the Agriculture division. The Cost Accountant will prepare and analyse cost and production reports at a centralized level across all Agri Divisions and provinces. Highlight variances to standard as well as potential areas of improvement to ensure that budget is not exceeded. This position reports to the Senior Financial and Supply Chain Manager and holds the TASK Grade T15. The ideal candidate must be in possession of a BCom Accounting degree, with at least 5 years senior level accounting or financial management experience in a large-scale agriculture and/or manufacturing environment. A CA(SA) will be advantageous.

Responsibilities

1. Implement no-conformance corrective actions.
2. Consolidate monthly cost and production reports from divisional financial managers.
3. Monitor expenses against budget and highlight over expenditure.
4. Prepare consolidated monthly forecasts and rolling estimates.
5. Manage the finance and sales of the company’s GP operations.
6. Produce weekly production KPI reports internally and for contract growers.
7. Daily water/electricity usage and analysis report. Compare to other farms and NMMM readings/accounts and limit wastage.
8. Report on all energy saving initiatives with third parties and confirm results.
9. Volume/Price/Mix type comparisons for feed to be prepared monthly, comparing to both historical and budgeted information.
10. Prepare detailed costings for all CAPEX projects in conjunction with project & procurement.
