Our client, a market leader in the food manufacturing sector, is looking to hire a Cooker based in Midrand.
Educational Requirement & Experience:
Matric or recognized equivalent qualification.
Advantageous: Technical trade qualification (N3 or N4).
Minimum 2 years’ experience in Food Manufacturing.
Must have experience working in the food industry as a cooker.
Must understand LEAN principles.
Exposure to World Class Manufacturing techniques.
Job Description:
Take production run instruction (recipes) from the team leader for daily production run and execution.
Ensure that the work area is always clean and dry.
Ensure that all pre-weighed ingredients and their weights correspond with the information on the recipe.
The cooking procedure will be done automatically by the Scada.
Cooking record must be completed when cooking of a batch starts.
Records of the cooking temperature(s) and time(s) can also be printed out from the Scada system.
Ensure that steritainer is labelled with Product name, production code, date of production, and line number.
Check and verify all ingredients have been added; check water, oil, and vinegar are being added by the system.
Responsible to notify the Sanitation officer to start cleaning the pots after checking that the pots are empty.
Responsible for reporting downtime on Shopware.
Responsible to ensure safety, quality, productivity, and equipment effectiveness goals as per set KPIs.
Report scrap levels daily and submit information to the team leader for review.
Responsible for production to attain OEE score of 65% or plus in the work area.
Responsible for production to attain wastage score of 2% or less in the work area.
Responsible for production to ensure stock accuracy in the work area.
Responsible for checking or verifying tools/parts, removing, and sending to maintenance for repairs.
Capture production progress on the system accurately at start, during stoppage/downtime, and at the end of the job.
Participate in all required inventory control activities, namely, cycle counts, and stock takes.
Participate in Operational Excellence initiatives.
Any other reasonable task assigned by the team leader or manager.
Be prepared to work overtime when required.
Follow all safety rules and policies.
Wear safety equipment and PPE.
Report all dangerous or unsafe behaviour to the manager.
Ensure all aspects for products to be produced in assigned work area meet critical quality factors, customer needs, and acceptable standards as per shared production plan and shopware reports.
Ensure PCD/Summary reports are populated accurately and on-time on shopware.
Responsible for production to attain 5S standard in the work area.
Identify ripping/slip hazards.
Working with hot products/hot surfaces – burning hazard.
Check set point temperatures have been reached before taking samples.
Cooker to raise job card if set points are not met.
Record the time at which the sample is taken on the cooking record.
Submit the sample to the QA Lab for analysis together with the recipe. The recipe should have the following information: Date of production, production code, SAP batch number, material number, and it needs to be signed off by the production group leader. Also, attach pick slip to the recipe.
Initially 1 shift, possibly rotational at a later stage.
