Job description

Contracts Manager - Seeking a Contracts Manager with strong leadership skills, formal tertiary qualification, in-depth construction knowledge and proven building experience in managing multiple high value construction projects. Reporting to the contracts’ director, the incumbent will be the responsible person to ensure that all contractual related obligations are adhered to and that contracts perform favourably for a multiple of construction projects, from start to final-hand over and beyond.

Duties includes (but not limited to):

  • Contract execution and managing the contractual obligations for multiple large scale, high value building projects.
  • CCS programming for multiple large scale, high value building projects.
  • Interpreting the architectural building plans, allocating project timeline, planning of all phases and activities.
  • Project time management and planning for each project in consultation with the various parties involved.
  • Quality control and assurance.
  • Resource planning and allocating resources.
  • Controlling cost and budgets of projects.
  • Establish and maintain communication with the client and consultants.

Requirements:

  • Minimum formal qualification: Must have at least a B Tech in Building Construction, ideally a BSc in Construction Management.
  • Your formal qualification must be coupled with at least 10 years proven construction experience in a managerial role as Senior Site Agent, as well as at least 3 years’ experience on a Contracts Manager level.
  • Civil experience (roads, dams, stormwater, reservoirs, substations, etc.) will NOT be considered as applicable experience.
  • Your experience must include independently managing large scale, multi-level (minimum 4 levels), high value, upmarket projects, and managing the contractual aspect thereof.
  • Your experience must include managing multiple high value projects in terms of execution and contracts. Managing several individual housing sites will NOT be considered as applicable experience for this position.
  • In-depth knowledge of the JBCC contracts and the claim, delay and notification process.
  • In-depth knowledge and experience in drawing up and managing a construction programme, including timelines and critical paths for the entire projects using CCS computer programme.
  • Excellent organising abilities, communication skills, problem assessment and problem-solving abilities.
  • Must have a stable career history.
