Dis-Chem Pharmacies has an opportunity available for an Online Content Writer at our Head Office in Midrand. They will be required to generate written digital content for the Dis-Chem website, app, and social media platforms. Develop articles that provide information and showcase the products or services. Deliver consistent and on-brand messaging as well as set editorial style and tone.
Minimum Requirements:
- Grade 12 / Matric
- Bachelor’s degree in Marketing, Journalism, English or related field
- Minimum of 2 – 3 years’ experience as a copywriter or related role
Advantageous:
- Minimum 1 -2 years agency or corporate environment, with a specific focus on content creation
Duties and Responsibilities:
Content Development:
- Develop and write Beauty content for blogs, articles, social media, the website, and app.
- Develop related content for multiple platforms, such as websites, email marketing, product descriptions, videos, and blogs.
- Monitor and analyse the performance of key performance indicators (KPIs) to offer suggestions for improvement.
- Organise writing schedules to complete drafts of content or finished projects within deadlines.
- Utilize industry best practices and familiarity with Dis-Chem to inspire ideas and content.
- Follow the content calendar.
- Collaborate with the content team to ensure timely delivery of materials.
- Work with colleagues and internal partners to develop, source, and re-work content.
- Work independently and consistently meets deadlines.
- Identify customers’ needs and recommend new content to address gaps in the company's current content.
Stakeholder Partnership:
- Brainstorm concepts with the content and category team to generate new ideas and strategies for effective content.
- Collaborate closely with the content marketing manager and suppliers to write content according to a Dis-Chem editorial style.
Research & Administration:
- Use search engine optimization (SEO) strategies to maximize the online visibility of the website in search results.
- Research and write long-form content on various relevant topics.
- Ensure keyword usage complies with the overall keyword strategy of the website.
General:
- Adhere to Dis-Chem policies and procedures and standard operating procedures.
- Adhere to health and safety rules and regulations.
Competencies:
Essential:
- Identifies, collects, and organizes data for analysis and decision-making. Finds solutions to potential issues as well as knowing when to escalate the problem and what level to escalate it to.
- Updates website to reflect changes to services. Ensures products and services comply with customer requirements. Develops customer satisfaction surveys, analyses results, and makes necessary improvements.
- Diligently attends to details and pursues quality in accomplishing tasks. Demonstrates an underlying drive to ensure that quality is not compromised.
- Grasps the meaning of information written in English. Conveys ideas and facts in writing using language the reader will best understand.
- Takes personal responsibility for the quality and timeliness of work, and achieves results with little oversight.
- Proficient in Microsoft Office – Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook. SEO and Beauty industry knowledge.
