We have an amazing opportunity for a Content Production Manager to be based in Umhlanga, Durban. Do you think you have what it takes to be our newest Purple Star?

The successful candidate will be responsible to lead our Content production team, including the multimedia, video, motion graphic design, audio, photographic and graphic design (print and digital OOH) production teams, and will collaborate with Marketing Teams to produce engaging, meaningful content.

The Content Production Manager must be able to think both creatively and analytically and will have a sound understanding of brand content strategy. Using a combination of content production planning and multi-channel production to lead the various Content production teams to produce and deliver all forms of content for the business.

Responsible for quality control including overseeing editing and proofing of all audio-visual content, among other tasks. Content may include, but is not limited to; TV commercials, radio spots and multimedia content (video, graphic design, audio, motion graphics, photographic images etc.)

The Content Production Manager must be aware of emerging and current production trends and resources to engage the best suppliers (incl. freelancers) for each project. Manage the entire production process, from ideation to execution, working collaboratively with all business stakeholders. Manage the budgets and timelines for all projects.

All content should strive to foster engagement with our customers, clearly articulate our key messages and adhere to our brand guidelines and strategy. Will have the ability to deliver to tight deadlines in a high-pressure environment and be adept at project managing the output of the Team in conjunction with the Head of Creative Services, departmental Creative Heads and the Traffic Manager.

You Bring:

  • Valid Driver's license
  • Minimum 5 years in a related role
  • Minimum 5 years in a managerial/supervisory role

A bonus to have:

  • Broadcast field
  • Diploma/Degree in the relevant production

What You’ll Do For The Brand:

Strategic production planning, project management and implementation:

  • You will be responsible for the overall management of all content project functions including the day-to-day management of people, processes and workflows in order to deliver best practice, efficient process, production schedules, and pricing management, while building strong, resilient relationships with internal teams and suppliers.
  • You will have expert knowledge of the talent, techniques, and technology necessary to execute the content production work, across multiple platforms and channels.
  • You are accountable for the overall quality of work produced, ensuring projects are delivered on time and within budget, and that it meets Brand guideline requirements.
  • Together with the Traffic manager, you will evolve operational processes and workflow documentation, while overseeing all aspects of the production project life cycle.
  • Work with various Marketing Managers to implement cross-platform content strategies that produce new content ideas which adhere to brand guidelines.
  • Evaluate trends, assess new data and keep up-to-date with the latest marketing content trends.
  • Editing and final proofing all forms of content including but not limited to presentations, scripts, TVCs, radio spots, print adverts, digital adverts, copy, videos etc. across all channels.
  • Brainstorm with Creative Services team members to continuously develop new innovative ideas.
  • Provide production technical support to team members.
  • Strong leadership and people skills.
  • Leading on and off-site teams to achieve results and meet objectives.

Technical Skills:

  • Manage the department production budgets using sound financial and commercial skills.
  • Outstanding communication skills.
  • Highly computer literate.
  • Proficiency with popular Content Management Systems.
  • Creativity and the ability to input on original content that provokes engagement.

People:

  • Build, lead and coach a diverse, high-performing Content Production Team and ensure ongoing collaboration with all marketing team members in order to build long term relationships with all stakeholders.
  • Responsible for setting direction, conducting recruitment, performance & salary reviews and the day-to-day people management functions of the content production team.
  • Ensure Project Management, organization and time management skills.
  • Work to optimise workflows, review pipeline, resolve challenges, and present solutions.
  • Provide ongoing training to ensure your Team consistently performs above standard.
  • Excellent leadership, communication, and sound decision-making.

Business Development:

  • Ensure a thorough understanding of our various customer target audiences and products and be obsessive about how we develop appropriate content for our brand.
  • Input on the development of consistent growth by effectively targeting new audiences.
  • Identify competitors and evaluate their strategies and positioning and devise counter-strategies.

Analytics & Reporting:

  • Weekly, monthly, quarterly and annual reporting pertaining to Content Production.

Other:

  • Other ad hoc duties that might be required.
