Construction Manager

A client in the mining industry in Merafong City Local Municipality is looking to hire an experienced Contracts/Project Manager with a strong commercial and client liaison background.

Duties and Responsibilities

1. Supervising and managing subordinates in the area of responsibility.
2. Implementing and maintaining the company's occupational health and safety programme to ensure a safe and healthy work environment.
3. Ensuring adherence to all requirements as set out in the risk assessment.
4. Ensuring compliance as per ISO documentation.
5. Ensuring all documents are done and submitted on time.
6. Monitoring and correcting project program.
7. Verifying corrections of all information communicated to client and head office.
8. Analysing daily delays experienced and possible delays.
9. Monitoring progressive utilisation.
10. Checking progressive revenue, cost and profit against budget.
11. Authorising and controlling overtime.
12. Submitting invoices to clients and following up.
13. Ensuring job training is dynamic and ongoing and evaluated on a regular basis.
14. Ensuring a client signs off production report daily.
15. Liaising with relevant production managers at least once a week.
16. Attending planning meetings weekly at each mine of area of responsibility.
17. Source new work.

Qualifications Required

1. Grade 12 or equivalent.
2. Diploma or Degree in Engineering or Quantity Surveying.

Experience

1. 3 or more years' experience.
2. Must have contractor working experience (contractor-client working relationship).
3. Must have experience in managing construction or mechanical projects in a mining environment.
4. Underground mining background will be beneficial.
