The Construction Manager is responsible for overseeing all on-site activities relating to the construction of Utility –Scale Solar PV Projects throughout the construction phase, from Notice to Proceed (NTP) to Commercial Operation Date (COD) and Power Plant Hand-Over.

SACPCMP Certification advantageous

Valid driver’s license
Skills and Experience:
Minimum of 5 years of experience in solar PV construction management
Proven track record of successfully managing solar PV projects
Have previously performed Construction Manager’s duties for Utility –Scale Solar PV Projects
Substation and transmission line construction and commissioning experience
Thorough knowledge of Health and Safety procedures and legislation pertaining to Construction Site activities and zero tolerance towards non-compliance to the Occupational Health and Safety Act and Construction Regulations

Responsibilities:
Take full ownership of the Solar PV Project Construction Site from NTP to COD and Power Plant Hand-Over
Serve as the Contractor’s primary on-site representative
Take full responsibility of Health & Safety on site as the construction Manager legally appointed in terms of Section 8.1 of the construction Regulations of the Occupational Health and Safety Act (OHS)
Ensure the Contractor fulfills its contractual obligation with respect to all site activities
Closely collaborate with the team on site to ensure project success
Keep a construction site daily diary and conduct daily site meetings with the EPC team and subcontractor representatives and/or construction managers to coordinate the various site activities of the respective subcontractors
Continuously monitor the construction activities and progress, and provide daily reports and updates to the EPC Project Manager (EPC PM) on the construction progress including quality and safety metrics, in the required format.
Provide regular updates specific to the construction activities to management and external partners (only when contractually required to do so)
Interface with the Utility and project Off-Takers on site and only with respect to on-site activities
Ensure the construction site safety file is up to date and immediately address any shortcoming or outstanding information and/or liaise with the EPC PM to resolve issues
Coordinate the project commissioning, performance testing and close out activities, with support from the contractor’s appointed commissioning engineer and support staff
Monitor the contractor and respective subcontractors’ compliance with their respective contracts and/or SLAs, specifically in terms of Quality, Safety, Schedule and Budget and related to on-site activities
Conduct daily site audits, specifically but not limited to construction activities on the Critical Path, in coordination with quality control lead, health & safety lead and PEC PM and identify possible risks and/or bottlenecks to be addressed and resolved
