Position: Compliance Officer Team Leader

About the Role
We are seeking a Compliance Officer Team Leader with a strong legal compliance background and experience leading teams for at least 2 years. This role is ideal for someone who is comfortable operating in multiple jurisdictions and can apply legal knowledge practically to ensure that the company’s clients remain compliant with complex regulatory frameworks.
This is not a traditional corporate compliance role—we are looking for someone who is proactive, solutions-driven, and willing to roll up their sleeves to help build and refine the company’s compliance offerings.
Key Responsibilities
Ensure regulatory compliance for clients across multiple jurisdictions (South Africa, UK, Brazil, US), specifically in finance and structuring.
Stay up to date with legal and regulatory changes in these regions and proactively adjust policies and advisory services accordingly.
Develop, implement, and monitor internal compliance frameworks for the company and its clients.
Conduct compliance risk assessments and implement mitigation strategies.
Oversee corporate governance processes, including company structures, shareholder agreements, and financial regulatory compliance.
Liaise with regulatory bodies, external legal advisors, and clients to ensure best practices in compliance.
Ongoing training, coaching, and development will be provided by the company.
Serve as a trusted compliance advisor for the company’s clients, particularly in the finance, legal, and structuring space.
Provide practical, business-oriented compliance guidance to clients navigating legal frameworks in different countries.
Assist clients with company structuring, licensing, and regulatory filings in various jurisdictions.
Conduct compliance audits and deliver strategic recommendations for clients.
Draft and review contracts, policies, and compliance reports for client businesses.
Develop compliance policies and procedures that enhance the company’s internal operations.
Work closely with executive leadership to shape compliance strategies that support business growth.
Assist with the onboarding of new clients, ensuring compliance processes are well-integrated from the start.
Implement efficient compliance monitoring tools and systems to streamline operations.
What We're Looking For
Must-Have Experience & Skills
Minimum 2 years of leadership experience managing compliance or legal teams.
5+ years of experience in compliance, legal, or regulatory advisory roles.
Strong legal background with expertise in corporate and financial compliance.
Exceptional analytical and problem-solving skills, with a keen attention to detail.
Strong communication and stakeholder management skills, particularly in advisory roles.
Ability to work independently, take initiative, and make informed compliance decisions.
Experience working in a consulting or advisory environment is a strong plus.
Nice-to-Have Experience
Familiarity with international compliance frameworks, including UK, Brazilian, and US regulations.
Experience working with financial institutions, fintech companies, or investment firms.
Knowledge of company structuring, offshore entities, and tax efficiency models.
Prior exposure to multi-jurisdictional compliance frameworks beyond South Africa.
What We Offer
Salary: R35,000 – R40,000 (negotiable based on experience).
