Duties and Responsibilities:
- Develop, implement, and maintain a comprehensive compliance framework aligned with South African regulatory requirements.
- Oversee compliance policies, procedures, and internal controls to ensure full adherence to gambling, anti-money laundering (AML), and data protection regulations.
- Act as a key advisor to senior leadership, providing insights and strategic recommendations on regulatory matters.
- Ensure compliance with customer due diligence, risk management, and financial crime prevention policies.
- Collaborate with marketing and product teams to ensure advertising and promotions align with regulatory standards.
- Manage internal and external audits, responding to regulator requests and ensuring effective record-keeping.
- Deliver compliance training and awareness programs to foster a culture of adherence across the business.
- Monitor and assess business activities for potential compliance risks, implementing corrective actions where necessary.
- Oversee due diligence processes for customers, vendors, and partners to mitigate financial and reputational risks.
Requirements:
- Bachelor's degree (BCom Law, LLB, or relevant qualification in compliance, finance, or law).
- Minimum 5 years’ experience in compliance management within highly regulated industries (gambling, financial services, or similar).
- Strong knowledge of South African regulatory requirements, including AML, Responsible Gambling, privacy laws, and advertising standards.
- Proven ability to develop and implement compliance frameworks from the ground up.
- Experience engaging with regulators, licensing bodies, and third-party compliance entities.
- Strong analytical skills, attention to detail, and the ability to manage multiple priorities under pressure.
- Excellent communication and stakeholder management skills.
