About the role

We are looking for a Compliance Manager to ensure that all business units within the Group conduct their business in full compliance with all applicable national and international laws and regulations that pertain to the relevant service lines, as well as accepted professional standards and business practices, and internal standards. You will maintain ethics, manage risk, uphold a positive reputation, and ensure legal compliance to avoid litigation. You should have knowledge of Group service lines and the applicable legislation, ensuring compliance with the internal systems imposed to achieve compliance with applicable legislation. You will also be responsible for raising awareness of risk, conducting training for staff, and providing advice regarding compliance.

What you will be doing

In this role you will play a pivotal role in:

  • Developing business procedures and processes to ensure adherence to the provisions prescribed in the RMCP.
  • Verifying that all firm and regulatory policies and procedures have been documented, implemented, and communicated.
  • Identifying processes and policies that can be amended to streamline operations.
  • Facilitating queries on the Go-AML platform.
  • Ensuring adherence to all reporting duties in terms of Section 28, Section 28A and Section 29 of FICA.
  • Escalating TPR’s to the MLCO, in terms of Section 28A of FIC.
  • Escalating suspicious and unusual activity reports to the MLCO, in terms of Section 29 of FICA.
  • Conducting weekly KYC audits to ensure that the correct information/documents are obtained by the KYC Officer.
  • Monitoring On-going Due Diligence (“ODD”) and ensuring that every tenant in the portfolio is undergoing ODD and confirming this against the tenancy schedule.
  • Conducting QA on the MLRO transactions.
  • Conducting weekly audits to ensure that the KYC Officers conduct PEP, Adverse Media and Sanction screening on all entities and related parties for new and renewal clients.
  • Conducting QA on all new and renewal deals when required, ensuring that all documents required for EDD as per the RMCP are on DocFox and that a folder with all documents is created on the J-drive before EDD sign-off.
  • Drafting a report on the QA Trends.
  • Conducting reviews to ensure that the correct Risk Rating on new and renewal applications are applied and responsible for ensuring that risk ratings are changed by the KYC Officers when there is a trigger event.
  • Carefully assessing all EDD reports and ensuring that they are factually correct before submission to the MLCO and Portfolio head for final sign-off.
  • Checking whether the KYC officers provide feedback timeously to the relevant business units, ensuring that the KYC process is followed at all times to meet SLAs.
  • Compiling a risk management plan which entails identifying relevant regulatory risks that impact the business.
  • Conducting a risk assessment and risk appetite discussion with business.
  • Ensuring controls are in place to mitigate the relevant risks.
  • Compiling an annual compliance monitoring plan.
  • Conducting testing of the effectiveness of the controls according to the monitoring plan.
  • Ensuring treatment actions are put in place to improve the effectiveness of controls.
  • Maintaining and updating the PEP register on an ongoing basis.
  • Ensuring that the various departmental Tenant list (new / renewal applications from “AI” portfolios) is correct. Liaising with the various business units for the latest tenant lists and updating the current lists accordingly.
  • Keeping accurate stats on all CDD, and reporting data.
  • Conducting KYC and EDD and ODD on all Landlords for the company and AMS and ensuring that documents are saved.
  • Establishing and conducting ongoing monitoring of compliance systems to ensure their effectiveness.
  • Conducting ongoing compliance training to keep abreast of the changing legislative environment, including legislation, policies, and procedures.
  • Keeping informed regarding pending industry changes, trends, and best practices and assessing the potential impact of these changes on organizational processes.
  • Providing assistance to internal or external auditors in compliance reviews.
