Job description

Minimum Requirements

Education:

Relevant Honours degree or four-year professional degree (M+4) in Media Studies/Communications/Journalism

Experience

A minimum of five years’ management experience in the media and communications industry
Proven experience in developing and implementing communication strategies
Experience in managing media relations and overseeing press releases
Experience in crisis communication
Must have existing network of media contacts, including Editors and Journalists
Experience in external and internal communication, including social media and digital platforms

Skills

Knowledge

In-depth understanding of media relations, public relations campaigns and social media platforms
Familiarity with DUT’s mission, values and key stakeholders
Strong understanding of branding and messaging strategies

Additional Requirements

The ability to work in a team to promote and protect the brand and image of the university
To develop and review relevant communication related policies and procedures
Coach and mentor team members in the Communications unit
To be available on weekends and after hours
