About the role:

Please note this is a 6-month fixed term contract.

The Communications Executive, EMEAI, in Cape Town will work within Euromonitor’s Marketing-Communications department to help us take our media relations in the region to the next level. The successful candidate will ensure Euromonitor International’s message is communicated to press and stakeholders, in line with our organisational values and goals.

As a member of the Euromonitor press office, you will aim high, embrace challenge and contribute to the company’s messaging, strategy and decision making.

What you’ll be doing:

  1. Execute media strategies for campaigns, events, products and announcements with a focus on key markets in the Middle East, Africa and India (MEAI);
  2. Enhance the organisation’s presence in the MEAI with a multi-faceted approach to PR, combining digital and traditional practices;
  3. Explore proactive and reactive press coverage opportunities for the company;
  4. Align with global press office team by collaborating on reactive press enquiries by working with journalists worldwide depending on location of spokespersons, press, availability of staff, etc.;
  5. Work closely with sales and research colleagues to drive timely publicity and organic media activities;
  6. Deal with media requests from trade, national and global press in a timely fashion;
  7. Conceive and draft written collateral, including press releases and media briefings;
  8. Work with global communications team to report on performance;
  9. Align with research, product, events, content and editorial calendars to develop a pipeline of stories and execute communications on commercially relevant topics;
  10. Ad hoc tasks as requested by marketing-communications leadership across global and regional activities.

What you’ll need:

  1. Minimum of 2 years experience in a communications, PR, media relations role (in-house or agency) or journalism;
  2. Familiarity with media databases and PR tools;
  3. Efficiency in copywriting, editing and proofreading;
  4. Comfortable with media monitoring and reporting on results to senior staff;
  5. Awareness of PR best practices;
  6. Fluent English;
  7. Strong writing and proofreading skills, with a knack for storytelling;
  8. Ability to build strong relationships with key people and media;
  9. Self-motivated with initiative and enjoys working within a commercial environment;
  10. Strong sense of accountability and attention to detail;
  11. Ability to work well as a team and independently.

What to expect in the interview process:

  1. Initial Video Call; with a member of our Talent Acquisition team (chat through your CV and learn more about us as a company and the role).
  2. Short written task to complete online.
  3. Video Call Interview; with the Hiring Manager and potentially another team member (explore your experience and see if there is a fit for the team and role).
  4. Potentially a Face2Face Interview; visit our Cape Town office to meet our Country Manager.

The TA team will be on hand throughout the entire process to provide support and champion you!
