Summary

Are you passionate about cooking and ready to take the next step in your culinary career? Hyatt Regency Cape Town restaurant 126 Cape Cafe is looking for a dedicated and enthusiastic Commis Chef to join our dynamic kitchen team.

As a Commis Chef, you will be working closely with our experienced chefs to prepare and cook high-quality dishes while gaining valuable experience in a professional kitchen. This is an excellent opportunity to develop your skills and learn from the best in the industry.

Key duties but not limited to:

  1. Assist in preparing ingredients and cooking dishes to menu specifications.
  2. Prepare ingredients, including washing, chopping, and portioning as required.
  3. Ensure food items are stored properly and in compliance with hygiene and safety regulations.
  4. Maintain cleanliness and hygiene standards throughout the kitchen and workstations.
  5. Support senior chefs in food preparation and plating.
  6. Follow instructions for food presentation and portion control.
  7. Ensure stock rotation and proper food storage.

Qualifications

Skills and qualifications:

  1. A passion for food and cooking.
  2. Basic knowledge of food safety and hygiene practices.
  3. Strong attention to detail and the ability to work in a fast-paced environment.
  4. Ability to work effectively as part of a team.
  5. Good communication and organisational skills.
  6. Team player with excellent communication skills.
  7. One year experience as a Commis Chef.
  8. Ability to work under pressure in a fast-paced environment.
