We are seeking a skilled Civil Engineer / Technologist within the Municipal / Stormwater Department, to join our team in Gauteng. The ideal candidate will be responsible for designing and managing projects, ensuring they are completed on time, within budget, and to the required standards.
Key Responsibilities :
Assist in the Preparation of master plans and feasibility reports.
Assist with standard setting and quality assurance, including undertaking of site inspections and construction supervision.
Prepare procurement documents, extract quantities from designs and draw up BOQs.
Liaise with a professional team, client and contractors in dealing with matters arising Inception to Detailed Design, Documentation, Contract Administration and close out of services for civil infrastructure projects including but not limited to: Earthworks, Roads, Stormwater Reticulation, Sewer Reticulation, Water Reticulation, platforms and assessments.
Ensure all designs are checked and approved by the relevant manager (professionally registered) prior to forwarding to the relevant client and contractor.
Assist in the preparation of fee proposals, tender documentation and technical specifications.
Undertake site inspections for individual projects to ensure site conditions are considered in the design process.
Attend meetings with clients and stakeholders as and when required.
Liaise with clients, professional team, and contractors.
Assist with the implementation of projects within technical standards, quality, budgets, and time frames. This includes the technical support to senior members of the Technical teams.
Ensure effectiveness, quality and profitability of completed projects including project follow-up, to monitor project deliverables and client satisfaction levels.
Site supervision as and when required.
Assist with the preparation of project reports and develop proficiency in technical report writing.
Deliver high quality stormwater PCSWMM models considering all factors involved in running a model.
Provide feasible solutions to stormwater issues encountered within the PCSWMM models.
Support and assist with the coordination of professional and technical engineering studies, computations, drawings, reports and surveys.
A working understanding of project finances and project budgets.
Good grasp of hydrological concepts and application of the SANRAL Drainage Manual.
GIS application experience is useful in manipulating georeference data files.
Experience in designing stormwater and/or flood management projects both in open channel flow and closed systems.
Ability to populate stormwater management plans and flood line assessments.
Qualifying Criteria :
Completed BTech / BEng / BSc.
5 years’ experience in a similar position within a Consulting Engineering firm (Pref).
Driver’s License (Compulsory).
PrEng/ PrTechEng is advantageous.
Mature and professional demeanor.
Accountable and responsible for individual tasks, as well as team deadlines.
Working knowledge of drawing and design packages (Municipal & Stormwater).
Proficient in using Civil Designer or AutoCAD Civil 3D, GIS, PCSWMM, GeoHECRAS, Bill Software experience essential.
