CIVIL ENGINEER / CIVIL TECHNOLOGIST

SiVEST is a multi-disciplinary company with head office in Umhlanga, South Africa and branches around RSA as well as Mauritius, Kenya and the UK.

Our services include engineering, project management, quantity surveying, environmental consulting, management consulting and town planning.

Our Civil Engineering Division is looking for a Civil Engineer or Technologist to be based at our Umhlanga office.

Minimum Requirements:

Applicants must be a Graduate in BSc Civ Eng / B Eng (Civils) or B Tech (Civil Eng) or must be already registered or close to being as a Pr Eng or Pr Tech Eng. ECSA Registration certificate or Engineer in Training certificate to accompany application.

Ideal Candidate Criteria:

  1. Leadership skills underpinned by strong technical ability.
  2. Looking to make a final move for a long-term career with SiVEST.
  3. Minimum 5 years' technical experience and 1-2 years' team leadership experience (most of which in a consulting engineering firm).

Experience in:

  1. Infrastructure design
  2. Roads, earthworks, storm water and sewer - essential
  3. Storm water management
  4. Pump station design (both sewer and water supply) - desirable

Experience in the following industries / areas - a strong advantage:

  1. Municipal engineering
  2. Housing infrastructure
  3. Industrial

Other required skills, abilities and behaviours:

  1. Must be active in the design field and proficient in the use of MS Office, Autocad Civil 3D (essential) and IDAS (an advantage).
  2. Knowledgeable in Hec-ras, GIS, PCSWMM or similar (an advantage).
  3. Knowledgeable in Ethekweni standards (an advantage).
  4. Problem Solving and Critical Thinking.
  5. Accurate – with strong attention to detail.
  6. Confident, with strong interaction / people skills.
  7. Dynamic and driven – yet humble.
  8. Even-tempered.
  9. Team player.

Key result areas (technical and managerial):

  1. Technical expertise on civils projects.
  2. Technology Design.
  3. Deliver complete projects through the full project life cycle (would be an advantage).
  4. Client and stakeholder relationship management.
  5. Project specific controls.
  6. Mentorship of junior engineers.

Must have a driver's license and be willing to travel to sites in SA and Africa if required.

Start date: 1 April or sooner if possible.
