Job Description

This Sector is looking for another talented professional to complement their team, in the form of a Design Engineer.

The below listed responsibilities and requirements are assessed during the interview stages and will further be confirmed with the relevant professional references that you currently are or have reported to in your previous positions.

Core Purpose

To carry out the planning, design, site supervision, and construction monitoring for both internal and external municipal infrastructure (water, sewer, roads, and stormwater including stormwater management plan) for existing and new developments for both Private and Public Sector Clients.

Compilation of tender documentation including Conditions of Contract, Specifications, Bills of Quantities, and Tender Drawings.

Key Performance Areas

1. Implementation of Municipal Infrastructure Design
2. Plan, organize and control specific technical tasks
3. Ensure adherence to the Quality Management System
4. Keep abreast of technical best practices
5. Prepare and present Technical Reports
6. Investigate and make recommendations on alternate solutions to engineering problems
7. Successfully train and mentor junior engineers

Job Requirements

Qualifications:

1. BSc / BEng / BTech Civil Engineering
2. PREng / PRTech
3. ECSA Professional Registration (advantageous)

Experience:

1. Competent at Infrastructure Design of Municipal Services (water, sewer, roads, stormwater)
2. Knowledge of Infrastructure Funding
3. Competent with Civil Designer and/or Civil 3D
