Civil Design Engineer/Civil Engineering Technologist

Responsibilities

Our client in the consulting environment is looking for an experienced Civil Design Engineer or Civil Engineering Technologist who will be responsible for design and project engineering services in civil engineering projects. This role is based in Johannesburg. The successful candidate will be responsible for but not limited to the following:

1. Conduct project development through facilitation of specialist studies & facilitate their procurement, undertake designs and prepare drawings and project initiation.
2. Conduct project management and contract administration services of civil engineering projects.
3. Conduct construction monitoring services including quality assurance, scheduling, coordinating, client communication, and produce regular reports about project progress.
4. Work with various project stakeholders, specialists, and authorities.
5. Demonstrate technical excellence, apply quality assurance & management norms, standards and safety.
6. Compile project reports.

Requirements

1. BSc or BEng or BTech in Civil Engineering.
2. Minimum eight (8) years' relevant experience in design of civil engineering projects e.g., roads, stormwater drainage, water supply, sewer, bulk earthworks.
3. Thorough working knowledge of specifications and Bill of Quantities (COLTO / COTO, SANS 1200, project specific etc.) & Conditions of Contract (SAICE GCC, FIDIC, NEC).
4. Proficient Microsoft Project (or similar programming software) and Microsoft Office skills required. E.g., MS Word, MS Excel, MS PowerPoint etc.
5. Registration as a Professional Engineer (Pr Eng) / Professional Engineering Technologist (Pr Tech Eng) will be an added advantage.
6. Effective report writing, planning, and organizational skills.
7. Valid driver's license.
