Job Description


MAIN PURPOSE OF THE JOB

To report on inspections on Mineral commodities, in accordance with instructions received from the Commodity Coordinator.


Responsibilities


  1. Maintain quality, efficiency and confidentiality of service
  2. Liaise with Commodity Coordinator
  3. Continuously upgrade the quality of services offered
  4. Establish, direct and review the system of application, recording, certification, filing, sample storage and field auditing
  5. Communicate with other branches/divisions and the laboratory to achieve required turnaround time for all submitted samples
  6. Compile spreadsheets of results, updating daily and reporting to clients
  7. Assist Commodity Coordinator
  8. Liaise with clients
  9. Carry out or supervise submittal of samples with sample submission form
  10. Ensure compliance with all the requirements of the inspection order
  11. Keep direct superior informed regarding progress and/or non-conformance
  12. Liaise with local clients regarding pertinent details and information related to operations
  13. Assist in continuously upgrading the quality of services offered, in support of “Customer Services” policy and minimize client complaints and claims
  14. Check the inspector’s claim forms in context with work executed
  15. General office duties
  16. Adhere to all quality and safety requirements of the SGS management system
  17. Perform any other reasonable tasks as assigned by direct line manager.

SPECIFIC AUTHORITIES


  1. Cease the use of any equipment that may be deemed to constitute a safety hazard or enter hazardous environment without the necessary knowledge and protection and report the situation to higher authority to action
  2. Cease work that may affect the quality (integrity) of services and report the situations to higher authority to take action
  3. Initiate a formal improvement request when a deviation of the system occurs, possible improvements are identified or when nonconformity is identified.

Qualifications


Education


  1. Minimum Grade 12 (Matric)
  2. Computer Literacy in Word and Excel, Microsoft Outlook

Experience


  1. Minimum of 1-2 years of trade-related experience or similar
  2. Languages: Proficiency in English (Read, Speak, Write)
  3. Typing Skills
  4. If the incumbent is new in the industry, background and qualifications shall be a criteria

  1. Good interpersonal skills
  2. Ability to problem solve
  3. Calculation capability – To ensure accurate scoring of clients' results.
