Overview

A Chemical Plant Supervisor is responsible for overseeing the daily operations of a chemical manufacturing plant, ensuring production targets are met while maintaining strict safety standards, by managing a team of operators, monitoring production processes, troubleshooting equipment issues, and actively promoting a culture of safety within the plant.

Responsibilities

  • Safety Management:
    • Enforcing all safety protocols and procedures, including proper personal protective equipment (PPE) usage.
    • Investigating safety incidents and implementing corrective actions.
    • Conducting regular safety training and drills for staff.
    • Monitoring hazardous materials handling and storage.
  • Production Oversight:
    • Scheduling and assigning tasks to operators to optimize production efficiency.
    • Monitoring production processes through data analysis and equipment readings.
    • Identifying and resolving production issues, including troubleshooting equipment malfunctions.
    • Ensuring quality control standards are met by conducting regular product inspections.
  • Team Leadership:
    • Providing guidance and coaching to operators on best practices.
    • Addressing performance issues and providing feedback to team members.
    • Managing staff schedules and assigning shifts.
    • Fostering a positive team environment and promoting collaboration.
  • Maintenance and Compliance:
    • Coordinating routine maintenance activities on plant equipment.
    • Identifying and reporting necessary repairs to maintenance teams.
    • Ensuring compliance with all regulatory requirements and environmental standards.
    • Maintaining accurate documentation and records of production activities.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in Chemistry, Chemical Engineering, or related field.
  • 3-5 years experience in a chemical manufacturing plant, ideally in a supervisory role.
  • Strong understanding of chemical processes and safety procedures in a manufacturing environment.
  • Proven leadership and supervisory skills.
  • Excellent analytical and problem-solving abilities.
  • Ability to read and interpret technical data and production reports.
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills to effectively interact with operators, maintenance teams, and management.
  • It is important to be able to effectively manage, lead, and motivate a diverse team of employees in a fast-paced manufacturing environment.
