Role Overview
Located in Johannesburg, SA, we are seeking a dynamic and strategic channel sales director to lead our Channel go to market in Africa. This pivotal role will be responsible for driving the growth and success of our distribution, reseller, SI, MSP, and MSSP partner ecosystem across Africa. The Channel Director will lead a team dedicated to establishing strategic relationships enabling Mimecast partners to deliver our cybersecurity and human risk management solutions effectively to their clients.
This position reports to our VP, EMEA Partners with a dotted line and close interlock into local Africa sales leadership.
What You’ll Do
- Strategic Leadership: Develop and execute a strategy for expanding and engaging our partners in Africa. This involves identifying target partners and channels, setting partner criteria, and establishing key performance indicators to gauge success.
- Partner Engagement: Cultivate deep, trust-based relationships with partners, acting as a strategic advisor. Work closely with partners to align Mimecast’s solutions with their offerings, driving mutual growth and success.
- Team Leadership: Lead and inspire a team of partner managers and virtual team members across the sales organization. Provide mentorship, guidance, and support to enable the team to achieve their goals and deliver exceptional results.
- Cross-functional Collaboration: Work closely with internal teams across sales, marketing, customer success, and others to ensure alignment on partner strategies, drive joint initiatives, and maximize the impact of our partner ecosystem.
- Thought Leadership: Represent Mimecast as a thought leader in the Africa partner communities. Participate in industry events, conferences, and forums to share insights and best practices, helping to shape the future of cybersecurity partnerships.
What You’ll Bring
- Executive Experience: Proven leadership at Senior Channel Manager or Channel Director at a SaaS company preferably within a high-growth cybersecurity company experience.
- Cybersecurity Expertise: Deep understanding of the cybersecurity landscape, particularly within the MSP/MSSP partner ecosystems.
- Inspirational Leadership: Ability to collaborate across functions and lead a high-performance team.
- Market Expertise: Experience with diverse customer segments (SMB, mid-market, enterprise) and new business growth, including partner acquisition.
- Team Management: Experience managing medium-sized channel teams in a matrixed organization.
- Lead Generation: Expertise in top-of-funnel and net new lead generation, especially in SMB and Commercial accounts.
- Partner Relationships: Established executive relationships within national and regional partner communities.
- Technology Proficiency: Proficient in Salesforce and GTM technology stacks.
- Operational Excellence: Strong track record in operational excellence, driving productivity and ROI.
- Growth Focus: Experience in building and scaling partner bases, with a focus on new market penetration.
- Distribution Knowledge: Understanding of distribution methodologies and partnership development for scaling and market entry.
- Team Building: Experience attracting and building high-performance teams in collaboration with HR.
- Travel Requirements: Willingness to travel 30-40%+ to key territories.
